Factory Big Brake Kit

You know... on to another item I was going to do. Hydra Boost brakes from a F350. I found all the items for like $300 back 2 or 3 years ago and that would be another thing that would make the brakes awesome. Another benefit would be that you wouldn't have to worry about vacuum as much if you did away with speed density and you'd have another 1 or 2 stops even after the engine died with boosted brakes.

A-1 CARDONE Part # 527079 Reman. Unloaded Hydraulic Booster $119.99 plus $50 core ($169.99)

DORMAN Part # M390337 {#F6TZ2140BA, F75Z2140KA, YL1Z2140AA}
w/Power Brakes; Bore = 1-1/4"; Dual Rear Wheels; w/Cruise Control $40.79

GATES Part # 365930 Pressure Line Assembly; 5/16" Male Inverted Flare x 3/8" Male O-Ring x 45 3/16" (Hydroboost To Gear; Hydroboost System); Aug. 10 & Older; W/Flared Fitting $16.69

GATES Part # 366200 Pressure Line Assembly; 7/16" Male O-Ring x 16mm Swivel O-Ring x 31 3/8"
(Pump To Hydroboost; Hydroboost System) $16.88

Later model (Aug 11) 1997 trucks had a change so the hoses might be different but seem to actually be cheaper. Those part numbers are just for referrence because

Later model F150 master cylinder could be an easy swap too. Some of the Big Bronco guys have done it. They are only like $70 reman.

Sweeet. Now someone post up a "parts list" of everything you will need to do this. Im not that lazy I just want it to be correct.

Do they make drilled and slotted rotors for the E150s too?

Thanks for all the time and effort guys. :)

2004 E150
spindle
(04-08?)rotor
caliper
brake lines
94 Lightning lower ball joints
04 E150 upper ball joints.

Summit racing is saying front rotors for 04 E150 is 11.7"..

Summit is wrong, early 04 maybe... but 2004-2007 is the 12.83"

Upper ball joints are the same as ours, just need to change the lowers. It is looking like 2004-2006 is a good selection year for the donor parts.

I have not been able to verify outer tie rod ends are a match. Should be though, Ford didn't like retooling if they didn't have to.
Autozone shows Right tie rod as a ES2212R which is the same F150/E150 but Left side shows different part #'s. And there is a weird difference on the adjusting sleeves. The track width on the E150 is different so that may be a factor.

What about the rears?....and I wonder if you could adapt the brackets to the 8.8.

Funny you should bring that up... I just got off the phone with a guy at the wrecking yard and he SWEARS that he has;

a 2004 E150 with 4.6L and it has a 8.8" with REAR Disc &
a 2004 E150 with 5.4L and it has a 9.75" with REAR Disc

So allegedly there is a 8.8 with rear disc under the E150 also??? I've spent enough time on the front end research who wants to dig into that verification?

But you did such a great job. We can name it the "drvovru brake mod"

You are correct.....the 5.4 has a 9.75 and the 4.6 has the 8.8.
:eek:ldtu:

Also,the 5.4 comes in either 3.55,or 3.73.where as the 4.6 comes in 3.55,3.73,and 4.10 (all 8.8)

Dunno, but I plan to go parts shopping after Xmas.

Paul you could buy just the bracket off rock auto and see if it fits our spindle.

will the E spindle change the ride height in any way?

As far as my measurements show, no.

And I verified with Ford that it does not matter what motor size the E150 has 2004-2006 front brakes/spindles are supposed to be the same.

I did post some new info regarding the rearend in the appropriate thread.

The 8.8 does exist...almost bought one from a local junkyard just I didn't want the whole axle just the disc brake brackets and such but they said al or none. I believe it was a 05 though but I know there's 04's out there too. It's almost like they added disc brakes to the rear later in the year...maybe used up the last drum brake setups first

So what's the reason we can't just bolt the caliper and caliper bracket right to our spindle? Here is a link to caliper and bracket. Cardone 18-4937 - Unloaded Brake Caliper | O'Reilly Auto Parts I think i'll buy either the bracket or the caliper and bracket and see if it will bolt up if not I can return it to the parts store.

As previously stated and the pictures show, our spindles are completely different. they wrap around the 11.71" rotors to hold the brake pads. The larger 12.83" rotor wont even slide on without hitting. The spacing on the bolt holes is completely different, with different size bolts and location.
