Are you just rubbing it in or considering selling?

LOL, it's up for sale I can't use it with the TorqStorm SC. Would be same price as new.

I would highly recommend going to V-band clamps anywhere the exhaust needs to be able to come apart (including cutting off the 3 bolt flange on the headers).

I'm going to do that between the headers and the pypes header collectors. There's a welding shop 1 mile away I'm going to check out tomorrow. If it works out I'm going to have them tig the v-bands.
But the cheap kit I got was supposed to be 304 stainless and ended up being 409. Seemed way to good for $300. So the rest i will use clamps and test to see if I can live with 3" and magnaflo's. If it works out I'll find just the pieces I need and order the right sections in 304. Then I can have it welded up correctly with maybe more v-bands in another section.

Got my headers back from the welding shop today. The V-bands are really nice. I think they done a really nice job.

Now I need to lay out the rest of the exhaust. I may try to weld the rest myself. I got a hobart 140 last week... I just need to learn how to weld. Lol

Well, Glen, you're starting out hard on learning to weld! 304 isn't the worst, but it definitely isn't the easiest!

I the part I'll be playing with is 409 stainless. I ordered a big box of what was advertised as 304. When it arrived it was all 409. They refunded me but I got to keep it. So I'm going to play and use the 409 as a mock up and to test what I like. Right now just 2 pieces on each side will be 409. If I don't like it then I will change it. But if I'm happy I will replace those 4 sections out with nice 304 parts.

My next door neighbor just retired from teaching welding at the vocational school. So he is teaching me as I go. I also have the option of taking it to the guy who tig welded the V Bands.

Sweet project, your truck is going to be very nice. You should've bought Jamie's Vortech setup too, then you could've basically had his old (new) truck. :D. But, Hopefully it works as good on a stroker as it did on a stock engine!

mig welding stainless isn't terrible but don't expect it to be tig "pretty". it doesn't have the gas coverage so it will still look like a normal mig weld even when done nicely. 409 welds ok. the settings under the cover will be too hot as stainless requires less heat. Fit up is everything, any gaps/mis-alignment will be your enemy.

I have a Dave pickrel novi bracket and I plan on that after tank, exhaust, pimpxshift. Should be fun. Jamie has been a big help.

First time this has been off In 26 years I believe.
