#4862 1993 Mini-Restoratiom

Apparently there colors are high and low spots that appear during this sanding process. This is all new and foreign to me so awfully interesting

The truck might have a bit of hail damage, but to have high and low spots is no big deal and very normal. It seems you have a good painter doing you work.

Yep a few coats of primer with sanding between them will level everything out, and you'll be shocked at how smooth the finish looks when it's done.

Just bits unfortunately. Hopefully it's going to be just about ready to enter the booth next week. Once it goes in the booth I'm not going back until every bolt and badge is on it. That was always plan, just wasn't supposed to take 11 months haha

Some other sanding process was done before this but he hasn't sent pics yet so I figured I'd just post these. Cab going in booth very soon. Then bed will be in shop for this process to be done to it. Once cab is painted he plans to put it back together with glass and all while simultaneously working on bed

Can someone please get me a picture of these seams. Also looking for quick recommendations/opinions. Should I go stock by the sticker black or something like as he says "the darkest black possible"

Just curious your thoughts

I support the "original" paint code option but if it was mine I would search for a darker black. Ford seems to like the "grey" or "brown" shades in their blacks a lot.

Thanks Raymond! He's got mine a bit different but still "fine" I suppose

When I paint mine, I’m going for the darkest black with a lot of clear. I want that deep, wet black look. I hate the way the factory black looks in bright sunshine.

That's what I decided on. I like to go OEM with stuff but I'm not selling it anyway so I don't need to worry about resale to a purist that won't exist

Here’s my hood scoop that I painted myself. 3 coats of black and 5 coats of clear. Wet sanded 2 times and buffed then waxed. Played around with a little bit of blue pearl in it just to see what it looks like.

If I ever do a repaint those seams will be filled and smoothed as well as filling the stake pockets in the bed, filling the front gas door, and even thought about shaving the drip rails above the doors.

My vote is to go black as possible with lots of clear!
