What's an emissions test? State MVI's (safety inspections) are good for two years, but time's up this month. I'm currently looking to "hook up" with an inspection. In a nutshell, he!! no, you won't pass...
Actually, you can easily pass the sniffer test without cats. These trucks burn remarkably clean. The problem is the visual. The thing to do is just ante up and buy the Bassani Cat Pipe. After dodging emissions for years on my 93 and my 95 with off-road X-pipes, I finally just got the cat pipes.
The performance gains you see by not using cats is hardly worth all the trouble on a street driven truck.
On my mustang I use to change out the offroad pipe with the H pipe with cats. But I don't have to worry about that now that I have a good buddy that does inspections. It is nice don't even have to take the car or the truck in. Just let him have the paper work and get it back the next day. :tu:
I don't know if they have them anymore, but look to MAC for some fake cat covers. They used to sell them for making it look as if you had cats without the downside of spending so much more money.
Either that or get some old cats and take the sheilds off them anf have them welded on. Maybe it wouldwork.
Us people down in Bama don't have to worry about things like that yet...
