woohoo roll bar is done pic's included

Nice bar...

I only have one complaint with the guys workmanship. On the drivers side door bar where it meets the main hoop, that weld is...uh...well...crappy.. I saw some gas pockets in it.. It'll never fail, looked like he got pretty good penetration...I'm just picky on the appearance.

All I gotta say is, there goes any sleeper look you might have had before!

It will always have that sleeper look it's a truck

I only had 2 options....get kicked off the track for no roll bar then where would I race on the street ? not a good idea or cut up my truck so I could race at the track well the choice was pretty easy

Jerry, Looks like you screwed the Lexan window in. Couldn't you have used the gasket from an original without the slider? It would have made for a cleaner look. The lexan is pretty rigid. I think it would work. Nice job though.

You'll never be able to get a street race ever again. :D

Now will you replace the Lexan with a clear one? That's going to be a serious tape off job on the interior to paint that thing. Looks sweet though.

Jerry, I have to agree with the above.
I still like that pic of your truck sitting in the parking lot, and no one who walked past it had a clue it had over 500rwhp.

BTW, I can understand why you put the roll bars in beside the rules , good protection if you get severely outta shape.

It is clear it just has a protective film on it

Yup it's a decision we all have to make. When you start going fast you need to comply with the rules and above all be safe !

As for the sleeper look I'm just gonna chrome mine and tell everyone it used to be a 4x4 :D

I like Raymonds idea, put some KC off road lites up there too :)
I'm also debating on having a bar installed. My only problem is that unless I'm in the high 10s or very low 11s that it would be overkill for a street truck that maybe goes to the track 3-4 times a year. As far as losing your sleeper look I would guess any moron would be able to tell that it's no longer a stock truck once you start it up.

Looks good,
Ray

It would still be a sleeper if he put a sign on the back that says "this truck is fast". In my experience, theres been guys that would have beat me but chickened out cause it says lightning on it. Then theres been guys who are sure they'll beat me and are stunned when I'm 5 cars ahead of them. Just due to the sheer fact that no one knows very much about gen1s will keep them sleepers if they run 10s or 14s. I run into someone that didn't know there was a gen1 lightning ever made maybe once a month if not more. Anyone who knows anything will see that the bars go thru the window and ponder that thought for a minute. Last time I checked you didn't have to know anything to buy a fast car.

The truck is looking pretty awesome man! I can't wait to get mine done as well! It'll get started in July/August!

You would be surprised by just how stupid people really are.
When I still had my big block mustang, some guys come up and watch me change out the jets on the 1150 dominator. When I was done, they asked if I thought my 351 would beat there 302. "I'm not sure, I think it would be pretty close." Then they asked if I wanted to put some money up. They wanted to run for $10 and I snickered, come back with $100 and you got a race. The idiots came back with the money. They still didn't catch on when I had to put on my suit and helmet then climb over the roll bar. I think he realized he had been had when I let him leave first and passed him by half track. I shut it down and coasted it through the traps. When he paid me the money, his friend said, "I told you not to mess with that car, he has a clevland in it"

LOL!!!!!!!!!

Jerry - nice setup! :)
