I have a pack rat coming in through the passenger floor side where the duct had a grid screen. need to block him from the outside and I can’t find the entry on the outside. Anyone have a pic of what I’m looking for or do I need to take the fender off?

Edit: added pic

I stuffed heat shield wrap in there, which won’t help but made me feel better overnight.

So many opportunities for an inappropriate reply.
Spam title to attract the most likely people who have dealt with critters in their truck.

I did catch this pack rat creature and relocate it. It didn’t do any damage besides the plastic “grid screen thing” and depositing 6lbs of acorns in my glove box.

But I’d like to know where the fresh air outside air hole is to I can prevent this again.

I've been trying to find something to confirm that I'm remembering correctly, but haven't had any luck. I think it's under the cowl on the passenger's side. Not sure how anything of any size could get in there, but over the years I've removed a lot of things from HVAC boxes that should not have been able to get in there.

I just looked and I see acorns in the cowl area so going to find out. It will be good to inspect under there anyway, I’m sure it needed cleaned before the pack rat took up residence.

There’s just enough room under the cowl cover by the wipers for the critter to get in. From there down to the blend door and into the truck. Since the blend door was shut/open, whatever it does without vacuum, it solved that by chewing a hole.

Problem solved and I didn’t even have to pull everything apart. Just popped the cowl of and the pulled out the blower motor to get access. :)

Where the hinges are there is a pretty good gap you can stick your hand under. At least on my truck since the foam was deteriorated.
There are also rubber grommet/drains on each side of the cowl at the bottom behind the fender liner. Some people used to pull them out so they didn’t get clogged and cause rust. This would only allow them into the cowl area not into the cab.
