What's your guys' take on this video?

Whether its a lightning or not, anyone who has been to the drag strip more than once or twice has probably seen a 13 or 12 second civic. A turbo integra or prelude motor in a car that weighs barely 2000 lbs is very effective.

Anyway, if it IS a lightning, it's obviously stock (can't hear blower whine), and I'm sure any stock dakota r/t would have been left in the dust far worse.

What's humorous is the number of times that trolls will post this video trying to get a reaction.

Until you can post a video of YOUR truck beating a lightning, why don't you get to work wrenching on it.

Wow, the "joker" ricer beat a possible Lightning that wasn't racing. Can I have his autograph?
Looks like they we're playing with him, and it's not a ricer fly-by when someone slams on their brakes.

****Update***Actually, I just saw the whole movie on the clubsi forum (from the other thread here with the video), the L wasn't racing the joker. He does race a white civic later that has a transplanted engine and a turbo w/9psi that pulls on him for a second or so and can't go anywhere. Let's see, a stock lightning with a passenger verses a Civic with every mod under the sun including a new engine. Sad.

After carefully reviewing the video..., they both accelerated pretty quick and to a pretty good speed, I'd day 50-55mph. If you look at the road stripes in the beginning, they are going slow, then as the green car pulls ahead the road stripes are passing alot faster. Right at that time it seems the truck stops accelerating. Is it a Lightning...I kinda doubt it. I hope not. Maybe your right about the ricer fly-by. It seems the ricer had to slow down to exit and the truck kept going. Either way, not my kinda racing, I like to start from a dead stop. I guess we'll never know until the guy(s) in the truck post up to defend themselves. Afterall, they made the video and allowed it to be publicized.:D

I would like to retract my previous statement.

Sorry DJanimate, I call that a partial fly-by from the L driver. I'm more convinced that it was an L...I'm not sure if you hear the blower whine with a stock air box or not. And yes, they were racing and the green car did end up in front, which last I checked, constitutes a win for the ricer. But in the L's defense, I'll still say that he let off the gas when he realized he had no more.:D

Kudos to the Riddler car

Either not a Lightning or he was pushing no more than half throttle.

My '02 Lightning, totally stock, at WOT whines like a banshee. From a stop, stomping it to the floor results in a 10-fall-back-to-8 PSI on the stock boost guage, and it whines loud enough that you cannot hear the motor (just the whine).

At 80 mph on the freeway, stomping it to the floor results in enough whine to hear it clearly over the wind noise no problem.

However, I can do a decent 0-60 scoot without ever letting it get into the boost. If I keep it out of the boost (at 0 or in the vacuum on the guage) you can only barely hear the whine, it's quiet enough that I don't think it would transfer to film very well if at all.

Just my $0.02. A stock '02 Lightning whines more than loud enough to be heard over the engine and exhaust.

Edit: After watching the video I'm still not convinced. We have film of one run, a win, showing the "Lightning" guages, and all the rest are questionable. Maybe it's just the camera in question, since I can't hear whine at all. Maybe he's running on gimp gas and the computer is cutting out boost, mine definately gets louder as the boost climbs.

Where's the boost guage?

In the other post "Sad day for truckvill..." there's another video from the same guy/night and on another race they zoomed in on the instrument cluster while driving 140mph. Some one check this out and tell me if you see the boost guage. This might at least answer if it was a Lightning or not.

you cant see the boost guage.. its hidden in the top right-hand corner of the cluster.

when the passenger swings around to the drivers side, look at the seat.. its a lightning seat..

if that isn't a lightning, then someone went to a lot of trouble to make it look like one. :(

Yup

I noticed that myself. They even show the truck do a burnout at the end and it does look like one in every way. The shoe polish numbers seen inside the cab view are even on the windshield from the outside burnout view.

Yeah, it's just weird that there's no whine.

As for looking like a Lightning it's not that rare. At the dealership I bought mine from there was a '99 F150 Lightning lookalike. The guy had done everything, interior, clear corner lights and taillights, emblems, even supercharged it aftermarket. Just glancing at it the only thing that looked wrong was the rims, which were not from a Lightning (surprising considering everything else was).
