Well, I didn't know the torque specs so I guessed!!!

Yesterday I put in new 19lb injectors, all new throttle body gaskets, new PCV valve,& a 1" intake spacer. Well, my PCV was GROSS, and it looks like my upper to lower intake gasket was leaking a little(back bolt was loose). Sooo, I put the throttle body back on and set the bolts @ 20 ft/lbs. Then I put the upper on and torqued to 30ft/lbs. And I put a nice long piece of vacuum hose going to the new PCV!! I have to tell you. My truck has NEVER idled SOOO SMOOTH . It used to stumble a bit when I would hit the throttle at idle, that is gone. It also ran kinda rough at idle, that is gone. And my off the line throttle response is totally improved. It just feals VERY SMOOTH I just hope my torque specs are not WAYY off!! :m Well, thanks for reading!:tu:

not sure about the t/b, but the upper suggested torque setting is 20 ft.-lbs. then again, i dont think the extra 10 is gonna kill ya. hell, half of the torque wrenches in america arent correct as no-one i know of has ever had em calibrated periodlically, much less ever...self included :)

Ahem... someone you know of calibrates his torque wrench before every major job he does. If course, given that he's the person responsible for the operation and calibration of torque wrenches where he works, that stands to reason. ;-) BTW, clean out your fargin' PMs, would ya? I can't harass you with your mailbox full.

Keep in mind that the intake is aluminum. You're not hurting anything with the extra torque, but officially that's a lot of torque on that little 3/8 thread in aluminum. I wouldn't go back and take it apart... but "snug tight" is actually plenty.

BTW, the studs on the throttle body can definitely handle more torque, but all you want to do there is squish the gasket. It's not like it's a slip-critical structural connection or anything.

ok, this is either a sign of how meticulous you are, or a sign of how sorry your life is...let the reader decide ;) otherwise, i stand corrected. so as i was saying, as 99.99999% of the people i know of...

#1-i wasnt aware that a sent PM was included in the freakin limit...whats up with that?
#2-perhaps i keep it full for just that reason, knowing your too lazy to slide over to the email section :D

Could be neither, Mr Mudd. Could be that I have all this calibration crap in my office and just like to see where I am - especially when rocker studs are pulling out!! ;)
