I'm going to be changing the factory headlight bulbs in my Lightning to ones that produce a more crisp white beam, is it ok to go with a 100/80 watt bulb or should I select the 65/55 bulb. I don't want to place any additional strain on the headlight harness or risk blowing fuses, which route should I take? Have any of you done this, and which bulbs did you get..

I'm looking at purchasing through JCWhitney.

here's the link to the page.

JCWhitney - either Xenon Halogen or White Halogen. page link -

I have had the 100 watt bulbs in my truck without a problem for over 2 years now. I put them in the smaller driving lights also, but had to replace them because one of them burnt out. The only real downside I have noticed besides people always flashing me thinking I have my brights on is that the white light doesn't cut through fog very well. It tends to just bounce off the fog and make it even harded to see in front of you. Other than that I like them. You can also go to Autozone and other parts houses and get a standard yellow style bulb that has a higher output.

I have the APCs

80/100 no prob with wires or fuses. Do however have a prob with bright lights (hella driving lights).

Hella 300 series avail in both fogand driving $37.?? each, fit perfectly, you have to space them away from the mounting bracket with about 5 5/16" flat washers. Makes the Boschs look sick!

Chris - I have already purchased the lights which you clued me in on several months ago! Thanks,

Now if you don't mind restating what exactly the problem is your talking about, I'm confused.

"problem with bright lights?"

are you referring to people flashing you all the time - or the cop story.. :D

BOTH, I have since re aimed them closer to the front of the truck, brought them down some. Hope you like yours.

Problem

I have the Hellas and love them but it took alot of paint off of my air dam when I put them in. I spaced them 1/4 forward but aiming them still chips paint. Here's my theory, the body shop put an aftermarket front dam on it after my deer incident. Could the opening be smaller? The old lights fit perfect and are the same height as the new ones. If that shop put some funk a$$ dam on it and that's the cause than I going town with the adjuster!
