Underdrive pullies

MO351

You're getting sleepy....
I ran a search and came up with nothing so might as well toss this out for the data base since I'm needing the info, too. What's the best underdrives everyone is using and where's the best/cheapest place to get them at? ASP, MAC, BBK,.....??

March 1015's from Summit. Gates K060990 belt from your local parts store. Best fit and finish I've seen out of all of them. ASP's are cheaper for a reason. I'm not impressed with aluminum pullies. I would get this and only this part number of March pullies. But I'm sure there will be a bunch of different opinoins coming up in the next few hours.

And as far as a belt I'm looking at bypassing the smog pump, too. That belt you mentioned, will it be too long to do that?

The smog pump only preheats the cats and doesn't actually cool them. If you take a look at aftermarket cats you can get them with or without the pipe. I believe they call it two or three way (something like that). The only thing you'll hurt is emissions when you first start up and the cats are cold.

what is the advantage of overpassing the smog pump??

I'm not running cats so what would I gain or lose????

No cats here!! :D So I don't have to worry about that.

"More than one way to gut a cat" lol

Alex, less parasitic drag from not running the pump. One less pulley for the motor to turn. Should help in freeing up some hp along with the underdrives.

Alex, I personally wouldn't do it, but to answer your question you'd gain about 3 horsepower, maybe 5 if you are real lucky, bypassing your smog pump. You'll just have to make the decision for yourself based on you local police and smog testing laws, if any, as to if it is worth it to bypass the smog pump. Again, I would not do it unless you have removed that crossover pipe that's bolted on to the back of the heads. In other words, remove all the emissions equipment, or leave it all on.

I am getting ready to order the kirban aluminum pulleys for mine. I have asp's on the mustang and they work great. Might put those on the L though. Can't decide.

The "three peice"?

those are the 1015's, correct?
1 peice amp, 1 peice crank, aaaaand whats the other one?
