Transmission problems again

I don't know whats wrong with it but, if its something serious then I'm gonna replace the whole thing. I remember a few weeks ago there was someone on here that said they rebuilt them and I was wondering if anyone remembers who it was? It started shifting weird and would'nt idle so I changed my TPS and everything was fine, then I get out on the high way and it has no OD. I don't know what could cause that but, I'm taking it to the shop Friday to find out.

I remember just before the board went down, someone posted about problems with the transmisson. I think that some module was replaced on the transmission and that fixed the problem. I dont know if this vague information helps......hope so!

For what it is worth, I have a friend that builds race transmissions for a living. He specializes GM electronic transmissions (700R4, 4L60E, 4L80E) but works on most any race application. I started having a problem with harsh shifting and asked him what the thought. He checked with his suppliers (TransGo and others) and told me that this is a common problem the E40D. They have a switch/module just inside the pan that determines the position of the linkage. This module goes bad and the symptoms are harsh shifting. He told me go to Ford and buy part# F5TZ-7A247-B to replace the switch. I have it now but have not had the time to replace it yet. I will let you know if it works as soon as I get to it. The part was less than $40.

I have the problem with it shifting way too early and hard. It also has no O/D. I'm doing 3500 rpms at 70 mph, it used to be 2500 rpms at 70 when it was working right.

I took it to the shop yesterday to get it checked and I'm waiting for them to call back. I had a problem w/ it slipping a year and a half ago and got it rebuilt, and recently it's been having the problem i described above.

I'm the guy that rebuilds them. My day job is Transmission Repairman at the Sharonville Transmission Plant, I'm a 4R100 repairman. (the Ford plant where all E4OD/4R100s are built).
You may need a new TRS switch, this is outside the tranny and is a pretty easy to install and cheap part, I hope this helps.
If you do need a new box, E-Mail me, I make a pretty mean full bore race tranny and anything else from straight stock to a Monster that will handle 800 lb/ft of torque.

Hope this helps,

G
