Transmission help..

Hey Guys, I put my new converter in today, everything bolted up great. I got the whole project done, then fired it up. It sounds like there is a ticking noise (pretty loud) coming from the tranny. I estimated that I only loss at most 2 quarts from my old converter. I didn't put anymore in yet. Where is this noise coming from? Could it be from the new converter not having any fluid yet? (it only ran for 15sec.) I was thinking maybe I didn't get the converter onto the input shaft all the way, but wouldn't it be very tough to bolt to the flywheel if it wasn't on all the way. Also all of the bell housing bolts went in very easy. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Bud

When I drained my convertor this last weekend when I did my service I got 7-8 qts. Did you remember to tighten the convertor to the flywheel? I'd get the tranny up to level to see if that fixes it

Shawn, I didn't think a converter held that much fluid. I'm gonna give it a try today. Yes, I bolted the converter to the flywheel. I don't know what else it could be because everything went toghether so easy. Thanks, Bud

Get it up to temp, and put it in park and check the tranny fluid level. The converter hold 7-8 quarts as does the tranny.. That could be alot of your problem..

Guys, I still have little problems. I've got the tranny full now, it did take about 8 quarts. The problem is when I start it, all sorts of ticking noise comes from the transmission, It's pretty loud, it will keep doing this until I put it in drive, then the sound slowly goes away. What is this noise? I thought it was because the converter didn't have any fliud yet, but now it is full. Once you get driving there is no more noise and everything is fine. Any help??
