Trans Question

HI DAVID here I have a question if anyone can help or shed some light please chime in.

? THE TRANS has a safty lock position by this I mean you have to have your foot on the break to remove out of park is this correct.

OK YET ANOTHER ? if I can take the shifter and just pull it down out of park what could be the problem I can do this with out my foot on the break. truck running or not.

COULD it be the trans is not locking up properly in park?

I GOT OUT and pushed on it just to see if maybe that could have been it thinking if was not it might roll somewhat .

THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP. DAVID

I know that alot of the ford cars like the contour escort and tbird they use a cable that realeases the lock when you step on the break and sometimes it freezes or sticks and you have to replace it. I dont think you can lube it and I would think that the trucks use the same type cable system.

I have a 93 and it doesn't have the brake/shift interlock, so I am thinking maybe the 93 didn't come with it. Anybody else?

It's possible but not likely. When you park on a hill, put it in park, use emergency brake and turn front wheels into the curb so the truck would roll that way if it turned loose. That is something I learned in driver education taught here many years ago.
