Torque vs. Horsepower

So what would happen if someone put a stock L2 engine into a semi truck? Would it move at all? If yes, then just how slow it would be?

I thought that L2 engine's torque might be sufficient to move something even as big as a semi. Am I wrong?

As far as I'm concerned, torque is real, HP is computed from torque and RPMs, but my Tranny guy bias is showing.

a 3.5 hp briggs would move a semi. It is all in the gearing! (It would just be extremly slow) An L motor in a medium duty truck (International 4000 series, school buses) would move around town OK. Wouldn't want it on the highway pulling a hill though. Your big bore CATS and Cummins are over 1200 ft/lbs of torque and up to 600hp. They even get better fuel mileage than our trucks if you factor in the weight they are moving around.
