throttle body question

Beer is good
Hi Mark,

I'm posting this in here in case someone else might want to know..I installed my single blade TB I ordered from you. Now the truck is idling high, higher than it did before. Do I need to reset the computer because the TB is flowing more air? How do I go about doing this?

Thanks,

Chad B.

Clonetek,

Thanks. I actually put the TPS from the original TB on my single-blade TB, just to be sure there wouldn't be a disparity of voltage there that I'd need to adjust for. I guess I just need to adjust the idle set screw. I was wondering if it would be required to reset the computer to allow it to compensate for the additional airflow, that was my question for Mark.

well, when you put the new TPS on, you will still have to check the voltage.
you may have to move it up or down after you set your idle.

Ok, if it is idling nice and smooth, at the speed I want, which it is now that I've adjusted the set screw, I assume the voltage at the TPS is OK. It isn't surging or anything. I also just for the hell of it disconnected the negative battery cable for 20 minutes. When I installed the new TB, it was idling high and erratically, and the idle speed was fluctuating somewhat, I guess that's what you meant by surging. I then switched the old TPS for the new one, and disconnected the battery for 20 minutes as I mentioned above. That caused it to idle smoother, and the RPM's dropped steadily after I let off the throttle..before it was hanging around 1500-1700 rpm for several seconds before it dropped to idle, when I revved it and let off. Now it's fine, so I guess the problem is solved.
