Big K,

I was looking at both (as well as the Camaro SS, all 2001 models) before finally choosing.

Are you looking for something that hold more than two people? If so, neither are for you.

Are you tall (the name big k)? I am 6'6" and the lightning is A LOT more comfortable for a big guy.

In terms of quickness (your typical 0-60 sprint), both vehicles are equally fast. In fact I've surprised more than a few LS1 powered vehicles - even Corvettes. They have a traction problem unlike anything I've ever seen... Particularly with the 6-speed.

The Lightning has a lot more class to it. Period. You'll get quite a few looks, from young to old, and they ask questions. "What is it? Is it fast? Is it stock?" And you don't have that "boy racer" image...

I'm from Toronto (ha-ha... Team Gretzky won the gold:tu: ), and the Lightning gets garaged for the winter. Neither vehicle was really made for winter driving.

Oh, and insurance is a LOT less, for me at least. I pay $2,450/year for the Lightning, and the lowest quote I could get for the WS6 was $3,800/year (24-year old male)

The WS6 does have some advantages, though. I don't think anyone here would question that the Lightning falls on its face sooner in a high speed run. Aerodynamics of a fridge. The WS6 has a much nicer sound system. Most people would likely agree with this as well, I believe. And you can get T-Tops. I've always loved the look of T-Tops (personal bias).

Ultimately, the only way you can really make an informed desicion, is to go out and try them both. I'm sure you'll have a Lightning before long ;)

Having said that, I obviously made my choice, and I'm more than happy with it. The lightning is by FAR the most entertaining vehicle I have ever driven. I have an 80 Z28 that I'm building up (makes ~400rwhp), and it doesn't hold a candle to the truck. Everytime I drive the Lightning, everyone knows, because of the goofy looking grin I have on my face for the rest of the day.

Well, I just sold my 98 TA WS6 to get into a new L and do not regret it one bit! I can tell you the TA was much faster (for now).

The TA is great for a second car, but sucks as a daily driver. The L totally rocks!!!

The only seat in the F-Body that is comfortable is the drivers seat, so if you plan on having any passengers the F-Body sucks. You may as well keep the rear seat back folded down because the rear seats are a joke.

I've been a F-Body owner for over 15 years and absolutely love them. I've been a Ford owner for 3 days now.

Here's a link to my TA

Go for the L. The TA body style is outdated. The L has a great look. I get many compliments on mine. I also agree with the comment above that with the L you won't have the look of high school racer.

I had a 2000 WS6, it was a fun car.

But no utility hehe... needed a way to get my quad around. I like the Lightning quite a bit, and can't wait to mod it.

This past Tues. I out ran a WS6 all night long at the track and he had a 50 shot. I know that driving is part of it but I laughed all the way home. hehehe

You're not stock so what's your point?

My point is I can pull a WS6 to the track, out run it, and still laugh about it on the way home. By the way did you read the post I said he had a 50 shot on the car, that ant stock either. I think the Ol L weighs a bit more than the TA to, That hurts. hehehe
You ask the question Im just giving you some info not trying to make you mad. :D

Nah I'm not mad. And I didn't mean to insult a good kill. But it takes more than 50 HP to get a L to run 12.3 so its not a fair comparison. Do I think stock for stock an L is faster in the 1/4? That's been my limited experience at my local tracks, though they all run low 14's around here. That's reasonable for a street vehicle at my elevation...

I kinda look at it like this to, I bought my L and so far have only spent 540 dollars on upgrades, I am very happy with 12.30's.
