Got around to installing sway bars today ... sort of.
I posted a couple weeks ago about a possible alternative to the Hotchkis $500+ set. Well, the front bar (made by the same company that makes Belltech bars) fits perfectly but the rear Addco bar doesn't.
The rear bar is designed for F-150s with non-staggered rear shocks. Basically, the center mounts are supposed to go on the lower shock mounts, but if you do that on the Lightning, the sway bar would mount really goofy because of the staggered shocks. And you'd have to jerry rig the end-link mounts to the frame.
OTOH, the front bar (solid, 35 mm with polyurethane bushings) fit perfectly and only took me about 45 mintues to install by myself. Jack truck up, take off front bar, use center mounts to attach bar to truck then do end links and wa-la! I tested the truck out, and I swear it pulls about 3G's! OK, maybe not.
Probably put it to a test it in a couple weeks at a Porsche Club autocross.
