Strange vibration

Well, I think I killed my rear end! I went to Kennedale last night and now I got some funky vibration. Not sure if it's in the trans or the rear. I can cruise like 60mph and when I floor it, I feel a stutter/shudder/vibration. Kinda feels like something is holding me back. I don't have a clue as to what it is. Just my luck....couldn't get my tube bumber cause of this.:mad:

Sounds like tranny trouble. Drive by Meadlin's Car Care on Main St. in Duncanville 972.298.6224. Jimmy there is a performance and tranny man.

So that's the name of the shop! I called earlier today and got a recording but couldn't understand them when they said the name of the shop. I guess their closed on Saturday. I'll be calling them Monday to see what their hours are and when I can have them check it out. Pisses me off...one trip to the track and now this. I only made 2 passes and even then didn't get a chance to warm up on my reaction times and launches.

I stopped by Ford to buy some 75/140 weight gear oil but that came to a screaching halt when they wanted 17.50/ qt and 3.75 for the additive! Local parts store doesn't carry any so I guess I'll be calling Summit and getting some Redline oil.

I usually get the GM posi addative 7.50 a bottle but good stuff. Orileys carry a brand called Equi-Torque for 3.50 or so. I like Mobil1 rear end goo I think it is 75/90 6-9bucks a qt.The wider the band the more addititves and less oil there is. Last time at O'Riley they only had Castrol synth.

:mad: Well, finished up the oil change on the rear end...and of course I found some broken peices of metal. Couldn't tell what it came from. Looked like someone put a couple of nickels in there and let 'em get twisted up. No heavy chuncks though. The teeth on the front and rear spider gears had chips on 'em and the oil had metal grits. Looks like I'll be saving up for a new unit. Whats ya'lls thoughts on using Pennsoil 85/140 GL-5. Not synthetic though. Think it'll make much difference?

Gear Oil

Like L8-Apex Said "The wider the band the more addititves and less oil there is".

I'd close the gap ....:tu:

Don't want to start a flame but. Penziol spends more of their money on advertizing than R&D. It' doesn't sound like your diff. Most of them have pieces floating around in them. I would get with Jimmy this week and demonstrate the problem if you can. If you need I can get a Level 10 kit for you:tu:

Sounds like time for gears. Give the guys @ Speedtek in Hurst a call. (817) 282-0042 They carry Redline oils as well. Ask for Chris B. or Kyle.

By the way

Made my first 2 passes in the truck on Friday. First time in about two years to race at the track, so my reaction skills are prolly a little rusty.

First pass 10.29 1/8mile
Second 10.25 1/8

I think with some practice I can get into the 9's just by improving my launch and shift skills. Oh well, not too shabby for stock. I think it was mostly the driver...me:p I'll have to dig up my conversion chart to see what that comes down to in the 1/4 mile.

Just thought I'd share that bit of useless info

A quicky conversion from 1/8 to 1/4 is a factor of 1.53. It usually comes out pretty close.

10.25 = 15.68

10.29 = 15.74
