Not sure if it is possible... but I myself have been trying to plan a stereo for my 93L and I think that I found a soltuion for keeping the factory look and still using components. If you remove the door panel and look at where the factory speaker location is you will notice a smaller hole(about the size of a tweeter) kindof underneath and to the side . I beleive... depending on tweeter size and mounting options that you could possibly increase the size of this hole and install the tweeters in there with the supplied mounting cups. Another option I have seen is to mount them in the dash up near where the front window meets the dash. There is plenty of room to allow for mounting it in flush or swivel or what ever. Also you would get better acoustics this way because it would be bouncing off of the window and then moving to your ear. I am still playing around with different setups but I will say that I already have 2001 Kicker Components for both the front speakers and the back. I looked for a while and finally found a set of 5x7/6x8 components speakers that I liked. I am planning on mounting the tweeters for the rear speakers up in the top rear corners of the cab. I plan to only go with one sub but I think that it will do. I am getting a 10" Kicker L7 ( the square sub) and installing it behind my jump seat with an amp rack on each side behind the seats that will also house distribution blocks, capacitors and the cross-overs for the components. Hope this helps. I am just waiting for the weather to get warm or for my house to be finished(so I can have a garage) to get started. will definitly post some picks when I get going.

The stock door speakers are 6 1/2" speakers. I've replaced all of mine. I've got Sony 3-ways in the doors, Pioneer 2-way 6x9s (I'm pretty sure that's what size they were, I'm having a memory lapse on that right now) in the rear cab speaker places, and then a Kicker C-10 10" sub in a sealed box mounted behind the center console.

Do you have pics of the sub?

I just replaced my radio and the fronts, they are 6.5" Now I need the back and the sub and I'll be set.

Is this referring to me?? In case it is no I don't have any pics of my sub and it's placement. Unfortunately I don't have a digital camera. BUT if I can think of it I might be able to get a pic or two next week if you want.

Hey RaZoR I have Boston Pro 6 1/2's in my doors and they fit fine....I was going to put in some Clarions but they were to deep. The Bostons sound clear, but they dont have a very good bottom end. possibly because of the F150's door. they work much better if you cross them over at 80hz and just run a sub with an adjustable crossover

The back speakers are 6x8's not 6x9's. Just thought I would clear that up.

I used a Sony Head unit with a Sony 10-disc changer mounted on the floor behind the passenger seat. I installed Polk Audio Series II speakers in the stock locations and an Alpine 8" sub in an enclosure that fit behind the console ( it just sits there on the floor with the seats holding it position!!), and a 600 watt Fosgate amp to drive the Polks, with a separate 150 watt Fosgate driving the sub. The big amp was mounted on the wall behind the driver's seat, and the small amp behind the passenger seat above the disc changer. It sounds awesome! Crisp, clean, and clear. It won't rattle too many windows, but us old guys like quality over quantity anyway!!! :p :p :p

Kevin...

Thanks...and thank you all for the info....I'm almost out of the weeds!! Glad to hear that the bostons will fit. Where did you mount your tweeters??

Just measured the rear...they are 5x7's. I like the idea of mounting the sub behind the center console...so i can sueeze a square box with no slant for an 8 or 10" sub. Tomorrow I will off a door panel to plan for the 6 1/2 components.

5x7 and 6x8 are the same size speaker. Ford and mazda aplications call them 6x8 and have a differant bolt pattern then a 5x7. On the other hand, all 5x7 or 6x8 speakers will have both bolt patterns on them for either application. So to correct you, it is a 6x8,

I'm running a six speaker setup. Got 61/2 sony seperates in the door, kenwood 6x8's in the pillar and two 10's stuffed behind the seats in custom box.I've had this setup for a couple of months and I think I am starting to go deaf.Too much System of a Down i guess~!

What I did was just replace all speakers w/ the Pioneers, and have an 8" solobaric L7 in a box behind the console. I got a 400 watt powering the sub and a 400 powering the other speakers(4 channel) Sounds awesome. The box jams right in between the seats, console, and back of cab. It was a tight fit, but it works. I'm actually thinking of putting the solobaric in the console and doing some fiberglass work around it. I would loose the console, but it would look sick. Anyone got any thoughts on that? thanks

Speakers

In my truck I have the tweeters mounted on the trim piece that goes along the whindshield and over the door. I think they work out well there. It sounds good and all. I have Sony 6.5s in my doors, two 10in JL Audios behind the seat, and nothing in the rear yet. But still trying to work on that. But I think that the tweets were good where I have them

Tweeters

When I got my truck, the tweeters are mounted on the lower kick panels by your feet. They're on the corner so they aim towards the passengers

Will 6x9's fit in the back? I got a set of new 6x9 Sony 3-way's for free thinking they would fit. I allready got a set of 6 1/2 Sony 3-ways in the doors, I also got a set of tweeters for free I'm gona put in. And the big plans are two Fusion Encounter 10's in a custom box mounted verticaly behind the center concel, still dont know what amp, any opinions?

What i've added:
Kenwood Headunit
6.5 in' 3-way Infinity Speakers
two 12" Kenwood Subs (one behind each seat)
Kenwood 600 ;t Watt Amplifier (for the subs)
12 Disc CD changer

Go to http://www.sbhcorp.com for some great prices on car stereo equipment :tu:

I haven't really found the need to amplify my door speakers b/c the head units give plenty of power to move them.

Happy driving, and listening

Rick
