So I'm setting my timing and....

My timing light ain't working. It barely flashes, and when it does, instead of going:

blinkblinkblinkblinkblinkblinkblinkblinkblinkblinkblinkblinkblink

it goes:

blink...........................................half blink..............................blink

And it doesn't actually illuminate anything. I have to look into it to see it flash.

Tried it on the other wires, made sure it had a good connection to the battery, same deal.

So i test drove the truck, had NO power, went back, guessed at the timing, babied it around, then got on it, and i think it's in a safe range. No ping, idles smooth, but obviously its not optimal.

What do you guys think could be wrong? Is my timing light shot? Is my ignition not working correctly?

ps: There's coolant around my radiator fill neck, and i think one of those hoses is leaking, but i can't figure out which one.

Anyone? Ignition coil going bad? Timing light bulb failing?

Could be your radiator cap. Try replacing it.

It's the inductive pickup on the timing light the magnets get cracked from being banged around

If it's a cheap light just toss it and get a new one
