Smog pump bypass

I just bought a belt to bypass my smog pump. Well actualy 3 belts as there were numerous post of which one to use. I finally got a GATES belt to work. I just followed the stock routing but skipped the smog pump. Fits very tight. GATES BELT no K060942 will barely fit. The K060945 was recomended but on my 93L it had no tension. Seems to work with the new belt. Can feel a few extra ponies free.
Now I just need to update my profile.

Any other minor or cheep mods to suggest???????

How about the TPS and the Fuel pressure regulator, there was a RECALL on the latter one. D`S93 NLOC#603

I checked into the recall. They were backordered on the fuel pressure regulators. If I am going to pull it off it is getting replaced with an adjustable unit.

Just what should the fuel pressure be on the truck?

Will bypassing the smog throw any codes or anything?I've thought about doing that also. How long have you had it like that? Thanks Dale Red 95 #2075 of #2280 NLOC#687BOLT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

From all the post that i have read you can just use a new belt. The pump is still there connected to the exhaust system so it can be reconnected. I have run it for a week or so with the original belt in the truck. I have a code for the egr that i have ignored for the last several months but that is the only one i seem to get. I just don't see it worth the 65 bucks to replace the egr. Just more smog junk.
I did notice some power gain without it. About the same time it got cold here and the truck has acted different at cold starts. Seems to be lean on the no 2 but don't think it is related. Probably that recalled fpr or the injector wearing out.

I got the K060945 belt and it barely fit! I can't imagine how one any smaller would be able to go on! And that belt I got came off on me tonight! Is there any other way to route the belt or a different size belt. It seems routing this way doesn't allow the tensoiner to put much tesion on the belt!

My truck is a 93, wonder if there was a difference in the accessory routing. I followed the stock routing and the K060945 fit by just skipping the smog pump, but the tensioner gave no tension. Came off by hand.
I tried smaller sizes till I got one to barely fit and that was the K060942. Been running it for like 3weeks and raced it a bit w/o a problem.

Sam, I have that same belt and it seems to be holding on so far. I have seen many posts about different sizes to use to bypass the smog pump. Why this is so I don't know. I guess it has something to do with the alignment as to why yours would come off. Actually on mine about an 1/8 inch is off the idler but has stayed on now for about a month without coming off. Someone suggested getting the Mustang idler pulley to keep it from walking off because they have a lip. Find one of those and try that.
