*sigh* More problems

Yep... that's right.

Purchased 01/18/02... in the shop 01/22/02 - 01/24/02

And tonight, my muffler fell off. I told you there was a weird buzz noise coming from the exhaust but I couldn't track it down. Well tonight it made itself evident hehe. I was about a block from work on my way home, straight street moderate throttle and it suddenly went WHOOOF and got really loud. I thought the world was coming to an end (or at least my motor hehe) so I immediately pulled over to a parking lot. Once I had it stopped and idling I realized it was thrummimg the floorboards and I immediately suspected the exhaust. Sure enough, muffler was totally loose from the pipes and hanging just by the 2 mounts.

If I had tools with me it would have taken 5 minutes to fix, but alas I had to flatbed it back to the dealership (25 miles from my work) and I'm once again, for the second time in a month and 2 weeks, in a loaner. I swear my truck is a friday truck.

On a more positive note... ohhhhhh is that sound intoxicating with no muffler! Must... modify... exhaust. Urges... rising... cannot... fight it. HEHEHEHE. I love the way it sounds with no muffler!

Anyone know what aftermarket exhaust sounds closest to the way it does w/cats and no muffler? Heheheh. I was considering just taking it to an exhaust shop and having them put the tips on some extended pipe so that it's cats, new section of pipe, tips only. God it sounded good hehe.

Straights with the cats hehehe... it was a lot quieter than just straight pipe, I can say that from experience with my '74 Nova (the "exhaust" consisted of 5' of 3" straight pipe on either side lol).

I really did like how it sounded... thought I didn't get a chance to get on it since I didn't know what was going on, and once I figured it out I wasn't too impressed with the muffler hanging 2 inches off the ground. I am really tempted now though hehe

A loaner????????????????????Hell, all they had to do was put it up on a lift and slide it back on and tighten the clamp. Obviously you didn't raise enough hell. My dealership would have had in on in five minutes. They all fall off. I had my guys weld the new one I put on. (eldebrock)

A loaner because it happened 30 miles from the dealership (1 block from work on the way home, d'oh) at 6pm. Add an hour for a flatbed to show up and 45 minutes to get to the dealership and you find yourself within minutes of it being 8pm. I dunno about your dealership, but all the techs at mine wimp out around 6:30. Bastards hehehe.

As for it always happening... does it always happen when the truck has 1,602 miles on it? :Y
