I should probably stop reading this stuff, some if I don't WANT to believe, but I'm not naive enough to think it isn't true.

All manufactures have the same kind of issues but only some get printed. For instance, my co-worker has a 01 Dodge ram that just recently had it's gas tank rupture causing the truck to catch on fire as she drove down the road. Luckily, she wasn't hurt but she could of been killed or badly hurt, her truck would of been totaled if some nearby people didn't have fire extinguishers to put it out. After the incident she did some research and found out it's been happening since 98 and apparently DC hasn't done anything about it.
Another co-worker drives a Lexus IS-300 which had a problem with the computer that would cause a serious lag in acceleration, so bad he has almost been hit when he pulled out in traffic and the car didn't "go". He's since fixed it with a computer update that he found on a website like this.
Anyway, all manufactures have serious issues, be thankful there's a place like bonforums to report on some of them.

Another thing is the mainstream media (which sucks in my opinion) has been all over Ford since the firestone incident, the latest was the loss of jobs. What they don't tell you is that many automobile companies have let go thousands of employees. Because those companies haven't been in the news lately and don't bring high ratings they don't waste airtime on them. Did I mention I think our mainstream liberal media sucks?

Adam whats your take on mainstream or liberal media? :)

yeah, what Adam said. has anybody heard about Mitsubishi lately? Right before the Firestone problems came up they were in trouble for covering up major problems for over 10 years...

Tim, there you go, I hadn't heard anything about Mitsubishi...poor Ford...I am still a loyal customer, I'm on my third Ford and have loved all of them!

I hadn't heard about the Mitsubishi thing, but it doesn't suprise me. I still find it humorous that Americans buy products from a company that manufactured the deadly "Zero's" that killed so many of us in WWII http://214th.com/ww2/japan/a6m/. As for news, I only watch one..

Any one else out there an O'Reilly factor fan?

political BS

To me, if you build the same basic car for over two decades, don't you think that this would have been "exposed" sooner if it were a real problem? After all, think of all of those Thunderbirds, Granadas, LTD IIs, and Cougars that were blowing up since 1979! They need to get real. When a product is produced in high quantities like thes cars were, eventually there will be an unfortunate few that are destroyed by fire. I really don't think that the article addresses statistical comparisons to other Ford or non Ford products. It simply bashes Ford.
In regards to the convetrible door jamming situation, ANY vehicle that does not have a roof structure will have a weak point at the ends of the rocker panels... Again, did they "investigate" all convertibles built on a unitized body - NO - they picked on the Mustang. Again - simple trash talk aimed at bringing down an American icon and a "big mean auto company".

Will these reports deter me from purchasing a new Mach 1 (assuming they are built) - Definitely not! :)

Getting off of the soap box...

Im die hard FORD but damn if they could build a car that would be of the quality of the jap stuff it would be nice. My wife has always wanted a new Mustang (we have 65-8 mustangs) when our kids get of age and she can drive something other than mini vans. So this past year my last daughter got her a car, so off to Ford we go and order a new Zinc Yellow 2001 Mustang. Fianlly gets here in October last year. Well to make a long story short, at 1200 miles the transmission was replaced (front pump failure), and countless other things like the missing screws, unfastened items, rattles, creecks and so on. I work on imports at a dealership for a living and it just makes me sick to see the quality that is in these cars and knowing that ford could do just as good but will not. OK im done. I will always be Ford Blue Oval but they sure are tring some times.

I think you just got a bad example! My 99 Gt convertible has been trouble free for 2.5 years and ~45000 miles. I have no complaints about the car (except the sorry, parkbench like front seats). And as far as matching the Japenese, try the Focus. Ill put my ZX3 up against any of it competitors. In terms of materials, ride, handling, noise, comfort this car flat blows away the Stangs and the trucks! Ford can do it and I think(hope) in the coming years we will see a better breed of car from Ford!

While the mainstream media may suck, there is nothing liberal about it. You have to consider that most all major media outlets are just owned by larger parent corporations. These corporations are going to either, look out for thier own interests or, appeal to the lowest common denominator in an attempt to make money. A truly liberal media wouldnt be possible in the U.S. or any other country in thier current political status, because there would always be a governing body with thier own interests in mind. In theory however, it is possible to have a media controlled completely by the people....that is if we all wanted to work that hard to achieve it. Ill go ahead and put up the sarcastic smiley in advance so you guys dont have to:rolleyes:

There was a poll conducted about 8 years ago that said 90% of reporters/newscasters were Democrats. You cannot have fair and balanced reporting with statistics like that. Big corporations (GE, Time Warner) couldn't care less about the politics, they just care about maximizing profits. Out of Tom Brokaws' mouth after the '92 election, "Well, we got him elected." I heard it with my own ears.

There is a difference between a "liberal media" and "liberals in the media!!! Just because there is a republican in office doesnt mean that we dont call our country a democracy anymore right??

GOTBOOST: your saying the exact same thing as what Im saying. having 90% democrats in the media hardly makes it equal for all sides of an opinion. So yes you are correct the media does consist of mostly democrats. But that doesnt make the media a democracy now does it (quite the opposite). Its actually kindof a great irony when you think about it. A media made up of democrats who dont even run thier own outfit as a democracy. (It would still be ironic with a republican majority) You need an equal view from everyones side to achieve fairness in reporting. I guess what Im saying is: Its not who makes it up. Its how its executed and whos represented fairly.

How could big corporations not care? The air-time that networks sell to candidates and thier causes. The regulations that new administrations impose on networks and on the companies that own them. And soft money that major advetisers and the same media conglomerates that own networks donate to parties. Corporations not only care...they rely on it..They do this to "maximize profits" as you put it. Sometimes it backfires as we've seen in the "media" lately. However the only reason anyone ever heard about the Enron scandal in the first place is because of democrat reporters looking for trouble.

Im probably talking to the baby-boomer generation on this board....who, Im guessing, will give me about as much credit as my Dad whom ignores my Marxist rear when I get all worked up! hahaha :D Oh well!!

P.S. Lightnings rule
