SS KILLA. Welcome aboard RECRUIT! Get used to that name because that's all you will be addressed by for the next 3 months. :D

You have a very tough road ahead of you. Boot Camp is hard and you will encounter even harder challanges throught your career. You have the best of luck and I will look forward to calling you my brother in a few months.

Just feel lucky that you are going to Paris Island. Think, right now there is a platoon of USMC Recruits in MCRD San Diego busting their ever loving A$$ humping their 60lb pack up a 3 mile high mountain at 6.5 mph with full war gear including flak and helmet. When the sh!t gets deep, just thank god there are no mountains!!!! LOL:D

San Diego = sunglasses, sunscreen, McDonalds, fences you can see civilization through, 70 degrees year round, no swamps, no sand fleas, nigga pleeeeeeeeeeeease!
any marine that comes out of PI is far better prepared to survive battle...Lightningfastsvt wake up and smell the octane boost!

DI, DI, DI!!!!
WWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
THERE IS SAND IN MY CL!T!!!! :D
LOL

San Diego Marines can only see civilization for half of boot camp (which makes it worse being a constantant reminder that there is still another world out there.
The 2nd half is out in the field in Camp Pendleton--Not so bad "mentally", you forget about the world and that you once had a girlfriend and family.

:D Bull dog, we all make the green grass grow!!!!!;)

"Maggot! You are lower'n whale sheeeit, and that's on the bottom of the ocean!"

Too bad you won't enjoy the 'friendly' taps of your drill instructor's 'group tightners'............we got them(right after the evening meal while standing at attention in front of our bunks) in the gut if we scored a 'maggie's drawers' or an 'unqualify' on the firing range. Ah, the memories--I only received one 'group tightner--never missed again.

They don't 'thump' you any more--but they'll yell you down--I guess. I arrived at Paris Island(from Miami, Florida) in October of 1961. (I'm an ol' cuss.) Spent(invested) some of the best months of my life there. Be smart--go with the program--learn everything you can--and get strong!

Semper Fi!

Ahhh the old Gilligans Island Vs "Hollywood" Boot camp. Ohh how I miss those days.. Big ass mountain humps with a 60-70 lb pack or lil sand fleas?? Lemme think which would I rather?? Duhhh
I would take being attacked by fleas anyday over humping the mount MotherF___er and microwave etc.. lol At least on Gilligans Island there were women, hell we didnt even see a woman for 3 months, and if somehow we happened to see one, even the fat ugly ones looked like beauty queens to us. lol Lightningfast said it best,"Just feel lucky that you are going to Paris Island. " That being said, where do better Marines come from?? Semper Fi and good luck SS Killa

if you must spew ingnorances, at least spell my islands name correctly!

forgive me, i must give you guys credit...trying to qualify at the rifle range with sunglasses on and all that slippery sun screen must be a bittch!

Oh yea, thats another thing. You PI guys have a grass rifel range. We have to fall in on concrete! Try dropping on your elbows into the prone position 100 or so times a day on nasty concrete. That alone is worse than sand fleas!!!:D

sore rough elbows huh? at least they match San Diego marines knees!

Good luck SSkilla, I was there in 1976, it was pretty tough, but it was an experience I'll never forget, or regret......Tony
