SD-friendly cam recommendation?

I'm looking at getting some used World Products Windsor Sr iron heads, and i figure that i should do a cam swap at the same time.

The truck is a powerdyned daily driver.

BLOG, Is your block roller ready?
If not, I don't think you can go too wrong with the cam Hotrod is running, the comp cams speed density friendly grind, he can give you the specs, but I think it is 210 degrees intake at .050 and 214 exhaust, 114 lobe separation and set at 110 centerline. The lift I think is around 510 with 1.7's

You nailed it! With i.7s its a .508/.515 with .210/.214 @ .050.
Ive really liked this cam for a daily driver. With adding the cam to the heads and ported lower, it picked up .4 from the cam. Not too shabby.

That sounds pretty good hotrod. If i swap to the windsor sr's and that cam, will i be able to drive my truck, or will i need an EEC tuner right away (gonna get one eventually for sure, maybe not as soon as i get this stuff though)

Thanks as always for the great info guys.

ps: around how much is that cam?

Hey Guys. The Speed Density cams we have to run for now, have to have a small intake duration. .210 for the Comp Cam I run. The lopey sound comes from larger duration. It starts sounding good around .230 duration. We cant run those. You probably wouldnt WANT to run a cam that size. The bigger the duration, the higher your powerband moves up. You'd be killing your low speed torque. Not something Id do.
As for the drivability, I didnt get the EEC-Tuner to help with drivability, I got it for controling other engine and mainly tranny functions. This cam with a set of Sr. heads will run and drive great. If youd leave a nice quiet, stock type exhaust, youd never know it was modified. Im very happy with the performance this cam has given me. You could get a couple of more horses with a custom grind, but if I went that way, Id definately convert to a roller cam. :D

I'm trying to keep the costs to a minimum, so I'm not going to convert to roller. Do you have a part# hotrod? Also, any opinion on which 1.7 rrs to go with?

WHAZZUP BLoG?!? The part # is 35-255-5. The grind # is FW XE254H-14. If you've got anymore questions, let me know.

What else?

Hey Hotrod, would you be willing to give a complete description of all mods included in "au-natural" form. I am new to the L's but would like to get my ET's down and your's look great. Thanks, Greg

Sorry..I was looking through the archives and found this one..

I was looking in the Comp Cams catalog, and there's a roller cam with about the exact same specs EXCEPT valve lift..It's .533 lift with 1.6's.. I'm wondering if this is WAY too much lift for stock heads, and do I run the risk of smackin a piston with stock GT-40 heads??

Thanks,

Do you think this cam would wake up the old dog?? Or would I be way out of the efficient flow range of the heads?? Or would I slow down because of a lack of low end?

It supposed to have an RPM range of 1200-5200 on a 5.0..

Dang Raymond, you gotta get AOL IM or something.. I swear we have the quickest responses of anyone on the board! Minute between responses....shhhadang..

Also what pushrod length do I need to convert to roller.. I currently have: lifters, spider, link bars.. If I were to buy the cam and the pushrods, what else would I need?? I can't think of anything else...

Would the pushrod length change from GT-40's to TFS or AFR heads?? I wouldn't think they would..

Drats you cought me napping.

I *think* this is the number I used when I converted mine. M656-B322. I ended up having to get two sets, but I'm pretty sure these are the ones.

Talk to Joe Amato at Downs he know right away.

I would also agree and think the TW's will take a different pushrod, I'll be able to tell you what R's take with a solid roller pretty soon :)

I'm pretty sure someone like Jeff or someone like that would know...Ed ya out there??

Would this cam (PN 35-308-8) really be worth the trouble on stock GT-40's??

Lift .533/.533 Duraton @.050 210/215 114* LS

The reason I mentioned I had the Y's was that they are just alum. versions of the iron GT40's. That's probably why I didn't get as much out of the cam and head swap as others that used different heads.

Hey Raymond, where in Ft Worth are you? I wouldn't mind hearing what your truck sounds like and how it runs. It might give me an idea as to what I want on mine.
