I was on a motorcycle ride in Borrego Springs. As we were leaving I pulled over with my buddy to talk to some other motorcycle guys we know when I noticed several people (some with Car & Driver shirts) sitting close by and looking at the bikes. They came over to talk to us about the bikes and soon Csaba Csere (the editor) walked over and I said, "Hey, Csaba!" He looked at me and politely said, something like sorry I can't see who that is in there. I said he didn't know me, but I knew him "from print." He complimented the bike and asked a few questions about it and the ordering (it could only be ordered on the Internet and they sold out pretty quickly.) They were all pretty friendly.
After a bit I asked if they were driving anything fun today. He pointed to 6 sport compacts including the Acura RSX, Mistubishi Eclipse, the Turbo Beetle, and a new V-6 Hyundai Tiburon (can't recall the other 2.) Being a wise guy (who me?), I asked if they got together and watched The Fast and the Furious last night to get ready.
He chuckled and said, “No. But we could have.” We left a few minutes later and I pulled a big wheelie as I took off.
