I got in from a 1500 mile round trip just a little while ago. It's the first significant miles in one lump I've put on the truck since building the 393 and also the first trip since the valvetrain problems I've had (three head swaps in 9 weeks). I drove down to Arizona to pick up another car and towed it back.
The truck ran beautifully and best of all it got over 15 mpg on the way down and 14.0 (dead on) on the way back towing a car!! I don't think that's too shabby for a 393 stroker with 4.10 gears.
I used the EEC-Tuner to throw some towing parameters at it (little less spark, higher part-throttle shift points, torque converter always locked up in 3rd and OD) and it really did an awesome job.
Just wanted to share that - I'm pretty stoked. It's the best I've felt about my pickup in two years.
