I'm sure this has been covered, but...

I'm wanting to keep my 17 inch wheels, and am looking for a set of tires for street use that will actually get some traction.

My truck currently has eagle gt 2's on it, they suck.

I'm having trouble finding tires in the stock 275 60 15 range.

Suggestions? What are you all running?

The Eagle GT2's suck?! In what way? I currently have BFG's but they're worn out, so I bought some Goodyear Eagles...haven't put them on yet. What sucks about em? BTW, BF Goodrich makes a 275/60/17

Currently using the Bridgestone Dueler HTS's I've got 20k on them and I'm pleased. Directional tread design and very good in the water. Not bad in the dry. Pricey though. They are wearing well and I get lots of comments on them at the shows. You won't touch these for what you can get BFGs or the Goodyears for. I've heard the Goodyears wear pretty well, but don't necessarily hook all that well. I've heard decent things about the BFGs but have no first hand experience. It's really a bummer that Michelin or Nitto don't make a tire in the stock size for our trucks.

Good luck, By the way I got them at Discount Tire whom I highly recommend. They didn't stock them but did pick them up for me. They were cheaper through them than the local Firestone Dealer. I wouldn't buy anything through our local Firestone place if my life depended on it.

No joke about Firestone...although I used to work there I wouldn't have them work on my truck. They wanted 197.00 each for the Dueler HP! I said....See ya! Went to Tirerack.com and paid 80.00 plus shipping for Goodyear. Now I'm trying to get the hook up @ firestone for no charge mount and balance:D

What sucks about the GT2's is that 1:Hard as hell 2:Don't do jack in the rain 3:Don't hook with a dam..

ok....That being said, they're cheap, you probably get what ya paid for..

I have a set of 4 GTA's I found for REALLY cheap over the winter, since they're out of production I got them for around 120-125 a tire...

Im having a lot of trouble getting the goodyears to hook up. I can break traction HARD at 35mph with them. While it looks and sounds really impressive, it's sorta defeating the purpose.

Guys, I'm comming up close to the time to get new skins on myself. I think I'm going to look into TOYO's. Les Schwab sells them. Heard any good or bad? They make our size.

Steve, My experience with Toyos has only been in sizes for the Mustangs, but they were good and I haven't really heard anything bad about them. They have some neat tread designs. Yokohama makes a tire for our trucks, but from what I've seen they seem to be very soft and wear quickly. Soft equals sticky though. Depends on what your looking for. One thing to remember is the wear rating varies greatly from brand to brand. It generally can only be used when comparing tires of the same brand. I got 40k out of a set of Firehawks and I believe the wear rating was something like 240 which is really low. You just can't tell by the rating.

I have the TOYO’s and I like them. They were cheaper than the BFG’s at discount tire and have a Z rating. I know they hook much better than my worn out BFG’s but obviously that is not a fair comparison…

Great! The one thing I wanted to gain was some comfort and control while driving in the rain. Oh well, prolly still better off than my current BFG's...I'm running on the wear bars right now.

i can't get my gt 2's to balance. had almost 6oz of weight on each one and still had a vibration. i'm chuckin em and gettin the bfg's.-chris
