Powerdyne ,maxium boost

Finally Satisfied
Does anybody know whats the most boost you can get out of a powerdyne BD11.I want a little more POWER!!!!!!!

Before i go there i will get a better more powerful supercharger. But for now,i will see what i can get out of the powerdyne .

Hey Bill, I have switched to the 2.5" blower pulley and am shifting at 5000rpm to stay under the max impellar speed. I am getting right at 10psi! I am happy with that! I need to get to the track when it opens back up and see what I can get now. I have been wondering the same thing for awhile.

You could run the ASP lower pulley setup and go with the 2.7 blower pulley to achieve about the same. What I was wondering is what the others that are running this setup are seeing boost wise?

Litl Sam,im running a 2.7 blower pulley and a crank pulley from ASP,and im pushing around 10 pounds too.I would like to know if i can get any more out of it.Is there a 2.5 pulley?and who has it?I'll give it a try.

no bill dont even try it. the 2.5in pully with the asp lower is a recipe for a rebuild. the rpms will be too high for those bearings and belt to handle. it wont last long. trust me. theres no more in the powerdyne than 10 psi. and you guys are lucky cus i was never able to get much more than 8psi out of mine. and i ran the exact same combo as you bill. i would be very happy with 10# out of a bd-11. dont get greedy cus itll cost you. i was in the same perdicament as you and thats why i went to vortech. ill never grow out of this mutha!

punisher is correct bill! You are at the max for the bd-11! I got the 2.5" blower pulley instead of the ASP lower because I wasen't getting belt slip with the 2.7 and it was cheaper.

Guys I am seeing 8 psi now with my 9 lbs. pulley (what size is it?)

I was planning on going with a ASP 8" crank pulley, and a Vortech 3.12 blower pulley. I calculated that the impeller would spin 40666.67 rpms With a shift point of 5200 rpms. This would be keeping it on the edge of the impeller max.

This is one of the many things I thought about while the site was down. :D

Actually the 9lb pulley is 2.93". It is called 9lb because it makes 9lbs on a stock 302 but makes only 6lbs on a stock 351 W and that is the pulley that comes with the kit. The 2.7" pulley made about 7.5 to 8lbs at shift(5000). I'm back to the 2.93" pulley now and am running the 7" asp crank pulley and get 8lbs at 5500 shift.
These powerdynes work great IF YOU DON'T OVER-SPIN them. I've heard stories of mustang guys missing one shift on their stick cars and having the blower break on them. Don't push the envelope on these blowers they will break!

20K on a BD-11A and still running strong!

Hey guys where can i order a 2.75 pulley for my powerdyne? Is there some sort of kit for it? Trying to get at least 8 lbs of boost. Thanks. Any help appreciated.

Id put the 2.7 on the blower and leave crank alone and be happy with it.Add mods else where.Blower ant cheap if you mess it up.

Guys thanks for the info,i guess i will keep it the way it is then.I have a extra set of bearings and i was going to play around with it just to see what i could get out of it.The truck runs really good now,I just caught the bug(the need for speed and power).I will fight it off,for now any way.

Bill, leave the blower alone and get into the heads , especially the exhaust port, valve seat and bowl. Youll will be glad you did.
Steve

Steve,i think i will wait awhile before i get into the motor,i only have 60.000 miles on it,and it does run good.when it gets more miles i will then get in it.reality is ,i dont want a race car or truck.ive had them.i want a vehicle that i can depend on,and one that realy runs good.but who knows i might get bit by the speed bug,and go all out.
