Pontiac Fiero information

Anyone in here know much about pontiac fieros? I drove one in HS and now my dad has it.

I was thinking about seeing if he was interested in selling it to me cheap.

I would use it as my toy. I would need to clean it up (paint job and some body work) and some interior clean up with a nice stereo.

Then some nitrous, exhaust, and into the engine.

I think it could be a strong runner all around and fun too boot. Maybe put a 5 or 6 spd in it and change the gearing.

Anyone know how well the rears etc hold up and how common stronger parts are?

I was into fieros heavy for a couple years but have been out of the game for twice as many.

Thanks a lot for any info and links to performance sites and such :D

2 seat, rear engine, rear drive, 4/6 cylinder? If that sounds like the car they are POS. They have a FWD drivetrain mounted in the rear. Besides why waste your time & money on a car like that?

Red,

I drove one, I am aware of the rear (mid engine) and 2 seats.

I think they are fun cars, so thats why I would mess with "a car like that".

They can be very fun and fast. If they are not to your standards I am sorry

Actually it was a shame the general axed the Fiero. The final year, it seemed, they had just learned how to build them. I thought they were pretty cool the last couple years. Had they stayed around longer, I think they would've made a great performance car. At least the possibilities were there.

You can get V8 conversions for them.A guy in hotrod mag a while back put a cad northstar engine in one.Light weight engine with good power.

If you're itchin' to toy around with a car, buy a '86-'93 Mustang 5.0L. They can be found cheap, parts are plentiful (even used ones), less difficult to mod, and they're simple to work on. They also have the potential to be REALLY fast and REALLY good looking depending upon your budget and imagination! In fact, I've been thinking of doing this, but starting with a 4-cylinder one.

Also, there used to be a yellow one where I used to live (Oviedo, FL if anyone knows where that is) that had dual air intakes on the roof that funneled down into the back engine bay, looked bad ***!

Most V8 converted Fieros have a Tornado axle/drive system. I've seen some pretty neat converted ones go cheap. '88 was definately the best year. - Brian
