Pleasssssse Help Update

Tonight i went to send some mail off and my 93L was running fine. Then when i got back on the truck it started fine but when i got to a stop i noticed that it was revved up more that usuall. Well as i was driving i put it in neutrual and it was tached up to 2000 rpm and it would surge to 2500 rpm. I turned it off and i was still the same thing. I also heard a sukking noise like a vaccume leak toward the driver side firewall. The check engine light does not come on. All i have done recently was changed the spark plugs this weekend. If you can please give me some pointers on where to start looking for the problem.

Bernie, check to make sure your PCV is in the lower intake. You will have to do it by brail, or get a small mechanics mirror(you can get this at schucks). Here is a pic of the upper so you can see where to feel.

The valve fits in a rubber biscuit in the lower, it will be right in the middle behind those rear upper to lower bolt holes . I'' keep racking my brain for you, take care Bro.

Hey guys i tried all of your suggestions and the truck is still the same. I guess i will have to go get it looked at. Thanks for all of your guys help. I will keep tring and if you guys think of anything please let me know.

By the way does anybody know where the idle screw is located so that i can try to mess with it, maybe that will fix it.

The Idle stop screw is at the bottom of the throttle mechanism. The screw head points toward the front of the truck. You can adjust it with a phillips screwdriver. Good luck to ya'!!! :tu:

Take some carb cleaner and spray on your vacum lines and connections. If you can hear the vacum leak try and see if you can pinpoint where it is coming from. It may be that your tb is not closing all the way. another way to pinpoint the leak is to take a 1' length of hose and put one end to your ear and just move the other around in the engine bay while the motor is running. Another option is disconnecting the battery for 10-30 mins to reset the puter.

I took it to the shop today. When the tech turned on the truck to put in the shop it was running normal again. Tonight i wnet racing and it started doing it again. Me and GEN14U2NV looked it over and we could not find the problem. He messed with the idle screw and it would only idle up from 1500rpm to 2500rpm but when he would screw it back down it would not go any lower than 1500rpm. Today while i was racing we were going about 80mph and Kevin started to pull on me very hard and that is when i noticed that i was having the same problem again.

idle air motor

Clean or replace idle air motor. Then make sure your throttle plate is set right. And also check tps voltage as well.

hope that helps you out

UPDATE

I took the truck back to the shop and asked them to check it when the idle was at 2000rpm. The tech checked it again and he told me it was my smog pump. So i tell him why would it start doing it now after 1 month of not having it. He told me that the computer just caught up to the problem. So i tell him "so if i install the pump back it will be alright". He told me "not exactly" then he started going on about me messing with the idle set screw and that it threw the computer off and it does not know where to ideal at. In the end he could not tell me what the hell was going on. I then got into my truck and started it really slow, turnning the ingnition switch to where all the lights came on (abs, check engine) and it stated fine. Then i turned it on again fast and it was at 2000rpm again. The guy just smiled and went back into the shop. I need to find a better shop to go to.

Hey i have some good news. GEN 1 4 U 2 NV looked over my truck and found out what was wrong. It was was the idle air control valve. It cost $60 and now my truck runs great.
