Planning to lower the 93 Lightning. Have questions/need advice

Hey folks, I'm very new to turning wrenches, so any advice is appreciated.

My stock 1993 Lightning currently has about 98000 miles. I bought it 1.5 years ago, and since then I've gotten a ton of help from my mechanically inclined dad to get the truck's engine running the best it's run since it was new (among other things). Now, I'm planning for my first DIY project that I'll do with my own two hands: I want to lower my stock 93 Lightning with a very modest 1" drop in the front, and a 2" drop in the rear.

In order to do so, my research led me to purchase Belltech 1" front springs (p/n Belltech 4800) and Eibach 2" rear shackles (p/n Eibach 3816.820).

As it currently stands, I do not have any complaints about the suspension. I just like the look of a slightly lowered L (who doesn't?). I'd appreciate the better handling too, but that is secondary. My driving style is like an old man. I really only take it out on cruise nights, and to use the bed to carry home the occasional big box item. No racing/dragging/drifting for me.

My questions are:
  • Does anyone have any youtube tutorial videos I can watch?
  • While I have things all apart, is there anything else I should replace as preventative maintenance, like bushings/ball joints/bump stops? Or should I save that for another time?
  • Should I replace the shocks? I have fronts and rears in my Summit shopping cart. Bilstein 24-013284 (front) and Bilstein AK1290 (rear), which I understand work great for a stock or slightly lowered truck.
  • Any special tools I need besides a standard set of sockets and wrenches?

My plan is to park the truck, get it up in the air, and go real slow from there. I just need to be done before the snow comes, because then it gets packed tightly into the garage with no room to do this kinda work.

Well, while your in there, all new bushings radius arm, sway bar, etc ball joints.
94-95 spindles to get rid of the slide pins upgrade to bolt in calipers.

And a quality alignment added to what Jason recommended. Just did all that last year. Made a world of difference in how she handles.

The front springs can be swapped in like a half hour. Jack the truck up, put jack stands under the frame, pull off the wheel, unbolt the upper coil spring retaining bracket and lower shock mount, loosen the lower spring nut, push the beam down and with a long extension and an impact remove the spring nut from the top through the spring.

Rear should be easy too with quality shackles.
