The Tulsa Firebird and Camaro Club is planning to rent Hallett Raceway on May 12th if they can get enough people together. They need 35 people at $125 per person to do this, so they are inviting other groups to come and play. You will get about 2 hours of actual driving time on the track in 8 fifteen minute sessions. If you are interested email me or go to www.projecttransam.com and post in the TFCC message forum.

I plan on going to the Shelby meet as well, but just as a spectator. It's too hot in June to mess with racing, it's too crowded to have fun driving, and it's too damn expensive. I was going to go to the drags at the Shelby meet last year, but it was going to cost $60 for half a day. It was $25 to run at the drags and you had to spend $35 to register for the show before you could go. And that didn't include spectators.

The Shelby Meet at Hallett is $115 a day for OT. That is just about as cheap as you will find OT events. I will be there again this year (6 year in a row). If you are in the advanced group, traffic is light. It's a three day (optional 4 day) OT event. Hallett is a good buy.

Do they require a license for the Shelby show? I was under the impression they did. You also have to pay the Shelby registration to do that. When I've gone to Hallett for events it seems like it's always packed. That's why we're just going to rent it and have it to ourselves.

I don't know anything about a license, so I guess the answer is, no they do not require one. Registration ($30) is required and covers all events (OT, Drags, show) for the full four days. Yes, it has been crowed in the past - but it is limited to 100 cars. Obvioulsy, less cars would be more fun. The advanced group is not nearly as crowed as others.

If you rent the track, please let me know. I do about 10 events per year and instruct at almost all of them - if it works out with my schedule, I'ed love to join a private event.

I'll let you know. We've got to get 35 people to make it happen. If there are more the price might even come down. The limit for this I think is 60.
