Oil pan gasket

MO351

You're getting sleepy....
Any advice on how to change it or is it pretty much straight forward? Looks a bit tight in there. The motor doesn't need to be lifted any does it? Gotta do the oil pan gasket and the transmission pan gasket. Both are leaking. Go figure.

I've never done one on a 351 but I have done a few on some 302 F-150's.As I remember you do have to lift the motor some but its not to bad. When the motor is up there is just enought room to do what your there for and that's about it.My tranny pan is leaking a little too:rolleyes:

Is the oil pan leaking or seeping. The bolts on the oil pan tend to loosen after many miles and can be tightened up.Unless it's puking oil replace it.Later Alex

Unless you have a hoist or a pit save yourself the hassel and pull the motor. I've done 3 pan gaskets @ work. First you have to remove the cross over pipe. Then raise the engine about an 1 1/2". Remove the pan bolts and let the pan drop to the cross member. Then you have to remove the oil pump & pick-up tube from the motor and set it in the pan. Then remove the pan by gently prying it out. I also recommend getting a one piece rubber gasket and using Right Stuff to stick the new gasket to the block and slide the pan back in. When my pan gasket goes I plan on pulling the motor, even though I have access to both a pit and hoist. Either way you go about it you're looking at alot of work, but with the engine out you can clean and paint the engine.

My Dad did his '94 5.0L F150 in his driveway in a few hours. Just pull the motor mount bolts and jack up the engine to where you can get a couple 2x4's under the mounts and you'll have plenty of room. It's a rubber one-piece gasket and goes in slick.
