nos install?

is there any reason not to mount the bottle in the cab verse in
the bed? seems you could keep it warmer this way without a bottle warmer, have easy access to open it without a remote opener.

The only bad part aof mounting the bottle inside the cab would be if it got too hot and the pop-off vavle blew. It would fill the entire cab with NOS... frostbite sucks you know.:m I would suggest running a hose to the outside from the pop-off vavle if you did this, that way you would be safe if something happened. Only drawback to that is drilling a rather big hole somewhere. Of course I've seen it done in Mustangs all day long without a way for the gas to escape, but they are usually mounted in the rear futher away from the driver.

If it's mounted inside the cab you have to run the pop off out side. If you don't when you go to lay down you new best time the guy in the tech line will break you hart and pull your bottle. That why all the mustangs have it like that..with a hatch back the bottle is in the pass compartment no matter where you put it This is a lesson I learned the hard way:eek:

I think Dave in Calif. who posts on here sometimes, has his bottle behind the pass.seat.How about it Dave are you out there?

Don't know if this is true, but a freind of mine always told me that if you install NOS that you want the bottle facing front to back instead of sideways , like behind a seat. Something about the liquid getting picked up better when you lanch since the pickup tube is at the bottom of a NOS bottle.

way back when in my nos days, i had my bottle mounted under the bed with a thermostat bottle heater. it was mounted to the frame rail forward of the front drivers rear leaf spring perch. i took the thermostat switch off one night and the bottle got too hot. pressures got a little too high, but never blew the safety cap. even if it had, it's outside the cab. on good nights, some unspecting generic motors owner would faintly hear a purge and see nothing but tail lights. good luck and have fun

I've run one behind the seat before. There is a proper way that it must be positioned so that the nitrous gets sucked up the pickup tube. I would suggest calling the NOS tech line for that info.

Also - get some sort of blowoff tube on there. There is a large rubber grommet behind the driver's seat right under the carpet. You can simply put a small slit in it and not have to drill anything. Look under the truck at the cab in the region behind the driver's seat and you'll see it. Can't miss it.

Have fun,

hey guys,

i had my bottle behind the seat during my nitrous sniffing tenure. my thoughts were the same at the time. heres the problem, when the nitrous level falls off, it takes progressively more and more heat to keep the bottle pressure in the 900 psi* range. when was the last time you had the cab of your truck up to the tune of 300*? ...i didnt think so. do yourself a favor and just buy a heater, its worth the time, trouble, and expense :)

on the blowoff issue...a track (at least a reputable one) will NOT let you in if you do not have a blowoff disk AND blowdown tube if your bottle is mounted in the passenger compartment. either that or they will make you disconnect the system entirely. once again, its worth the time, trouble, and expense :)

I took out the center jump seat and mounted my bottle next to the passenger seat. I made a set of aluminum rails to mount the bottle brackets to and bolted them up to the factory seat mount.
I am using the NHRA mandatory vent tube also. I can just reach over and turn on the bottle so I didn't need to spend the extra money on a remote opener. Also, I feel that putting it in the cab helps regulate the bottle temp. especially on a hot summer day. The only other way to cool off a bottle is to purge it.
Hope this helps you make your decision.

The only time I have seen the pop off valve pop was when my friend stuffed 13 or so lbs in a 12lb bottle and left the bottle in the truck during a Houston summer. It took about an hour and froze his floor mat (now my frozen floor mat). I've run it behind the seat for a few years now and even left the bottle heater on one night ( ) and haven't had a bottle pop.

I like the fact I can just reach back when the LS1s come up next to me and not have to jump in the bed. I also was able to hook up the whole system without having to drill any holes. Just my opinion.
