Normal ?? Temp Guage Actions?

Has Seller's regret
Like most of you, I have the 180* T-stat installed. My Q is this:

While driving, I can watch the temp guage get to about the "N". Then it seems like the T-stat opens, and the guage rapidly drops to the "bar" in the normal range sections. This process just repeats itself. The climb to the "N" is very slow, but the drop back down is very fast.

Is this common? I hear the stock guages aren't that accurate.

Thanks guys!

Jason

I have a mechanical guage and it sits dead on 180. would be a good idea to get one it you can. the dash guage sits somewhere around the N or just under.

Hey Jason, I'd get an autometer temp gauge man. The stock gauges are crap and don't work well at all. With my stock t-stat my stock gauge sat around the N-O range. Sometimes down around the bar and never hardly reached the N. Now with the autometer gauge I've got I can see exactly what my temp is. Most of the time it's right around 193* untill I hit the interstate then it goes to about 200 or so. Dead on accurate. Stock t-stat is 195*. Same with my oil pressure gauge. My autometer is so much better.
