No more braking woes for me!

L8-APEX

Man on the edge
After 8 months of cracked rotors, brake pad fires, 2 sets of rotors, 2 sets of pads, two fluid changes, and horrid track fade. I am done playing with the inferior stock stoppers. In the mail is a set of big nasty 355mm or 14" F50 caliper Brembo bad boyz:eek: They were holding the components hostage until the Rolex at Daytona 24 hour race was over in case race teams needed them. Got the plasma cutter fixed just to have another high tech toy to install them with. Oh boy and I have a track on site to break them in on lucky me :D Who else will join the ranks of man brakes? Carlos will love me this year. Mario Andretti once said " He is constatly surprised that even on the professional level drivers think brakes are for slowing the car." His point is brakes allow you to go deeper and therefore faster around the track.

. . . . That must be what is wrong, I thought the object was not to use the brakes . . . . but if you are going to use them, those sure are pretty:D:D:D

No those are not the same, those are one piece cast steel. Mine are two piece full race units used on their road race car kits. You don't see Porshe or Ferrari owners dissing their brakes. Ford probably went for the cheaper part. I will forward the link to my commercial sales rep at Brembo and see what he says. The only thing that looks Brembo is the caliper. Whoever chose that rotor went the cheap route not even slotted or drilled. Looks like a stock unit out of those Ford parts boxes? Definately not a race worthy rotor. Never seen one rip the center out that is something to brag about ;).

Well, I saw the link on corner-carvers.com I think. Those are the stock brakes that come with the 2000 Cobra R. At least 3-4 people on that board have had the same failure.

Oh well, the only time I slow down is when I need gas. :D

I'm not sure Brembos are really designed to stop a 5,000 pound runaway freight train. I know the calipers are first class, but those rotors do look a little fragile to me. My $.02 :p
