Nmra Springnationals @ Bradenton, Florida

Well, it's only 1 month away!
Who's going to show for the NMRA season opener Ford Springnationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida?!

This is the schedule so far:
-Thursday 7th->Open testing
-Friday 8th->Registration, tech, & testing
-Saturday 9th->Qualifying & brackets
-Sunday 10th->Eliminations

So let's hear it!
Who's going, where are you staying, when are you getting down there, and what will you be running? Anyone coming out with any new combos or trucks? New times?
I've heard a bunch of rumors pertaining to some of the GEN2 veterens of this class, any of it true?

I'll be there in the new race truck (God willing everything goes according to plan, lol). We're leaving Jerzey tuesday afternoon and will be down there & checked in wednesday. We're staying at the Bradenton-Sarasota Airport Marina Holiday Inn.

How about everyone else?

Not too quick there Cap'n...Maybe if just you and I show up we can run for the best 2 out of 3.

We'll be there...with a fresh, new coat of Candy Red paint and a couple of other goodies to boot.

LMAO Randy!
I knew that would get YOUR attention!
"Couple of goodies"? What do you have up your sleeve this year?
And new paint too? Nice!

Just out of curiousity, did you put all your contingency stickers back on the body? I'm wondering what to do about mine. I don't wanna put them on the paint, and there isn't much room on the lexan back window. Any ideas?

I haven't put them back on yet Cap'n. Probably do it when I get to the track as they have them there. Not going to be nearly as many this year. Have you seen FFW's contingency posting? Man it sucks! Of course, M/T tires is gone from everywhere, but they lost a lot of Ford Motorsport, ALL of Holley, some of Edelbrock...terrible looking list. They just released it today. Like I said...typical case of someone resting on their laurels! NMRA looks pretty good though...they only pay $60 per part though. Last year to win a race with FFW I made just over $3000 in contingency. As it stands this year, it's going to be tough to break $1000! Tells me how many races I'm going to go to!!
Anyway...Have you thought about going to a sign shop and buying a sheet of the magnetic sign material? It's not too expensive. We did that 2 years ago when I ran my Uncle's Lightning and he didn't want permanent stickers on it either. Just arrange the stickers on the magnet to use it as efficiently as possible. Peel off the backs and stick 'em to the magnet and then trace around them with an Exacto knife. You can't tell the difference once they're on the truck. We never lost any that way.
Hope this helps- Randy

Not a bad idea Randy!
I'm considering something else, just don't know if it'll be legal or not for NMRA competition.

We're getting to crunch time now. 1 week to go before we leave for Bradenton. I'm pysched!

I can't believe noone besides the 2 of us have responded to this. I KNOW JL and his gang will be there along with who knows who else.

Cm'on people.......WHO'S GOING?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

FYI

I did try another way once but it didn't work out too good. I bought a roll of that 'Limo tint' stuff that is the static cling type. It worked great to begin with, was easy to trim and you couldn't tell the stickers weren't actually stuck to the vehicle because it is so thin. The only problem was that as it got later in the evening and the temps dropped, the static cling would contract and start losing decals. Kinda hurts the contingency money when half your stickers are out on the racetrack somewhere.

I fully believe the NMRA opener is going to be a better event than the FFW. Last year, when NMRA was in Orlando, it was WAY crowded. I expect there will be twice the cars there this year. I'm going down Thursday evening just to get in line and try to get a decent parking spot. You can't park a 62' rig just anywhere! PLus, NMRA has really been doing their homework in promoting their events. FFW as usual could give a ratsa$$ about their racers.

Randy,
I am totally in agreement about FFW versus NMRA, the bad thing is that the FFW events are closer for me. I'll try to run some of both. I don't want it to be too easy for you to collect all the contengency money. See you soon.
Mike

Doesn't look like there's going to be too much for anyone to collect! I don't see me driving to some of the 'single' event weekends this year. Probably try and catch the ones where they are pretty close together on adjoining weekends.

Don't blame you the money for the trucks went way south. I guess we don't rate like Mod Motor or Pro 5.0. Oh well more fun to racr than complain.

Sorry guys. ive been kinda tooooooooo busy here lately.. i plan on being there also. i hope to have the 01 tuned up and ready to rip by then. we'll be showing off some new goodies... look forward in seeing everyone. drive safe and keep it between the lines........:tu: JL

Now that's more like it!
So we'll have the normal NMRA gang there I suppose and then some.
Hey Johnny? Are you coming with your entaurage? Who's all gonna be down there?

Anyone going to be testing on thursday? I'm debating whether I will be. I'd like to not test on thursday & do some testing/tuning on friday's test session before qualifying on saturday. I was hopeing I could have thursday to hang around. It IS florida during spring break & I will have some non-NMRA racing friends & some college girls with me, so you know wat that means! Sun & fun and booze & bit@hes! Woooooo doggyyyyy!!!!
The only thing that is making me thnk I need to test on thursday is the fact that I haven't made a single pass in the new truck yet. I'm thrashing to get it finished & tech ready by saturday morning. I'd like to get to Englishtown to make some passes saturday, but now they're calling for rain/snow. We leave tuesday from Jerzey, so I'm really pressed for time.

Before you get too excited about the 'open testing' on Thursday, you may want to call the track. If I'm not mistaken, Thursday test-n-tune is not part of the NMRA event but rather the tracks doin's. Last year, which I realize was a totally different event sponsored by a different organization, it costed either $50 or $100 to test on Thursday...payed directly to the track. I can't remember which it was as Orlando had one price and Bradenton the other.

Just thought you might want to check into it.

Reports Anyone

Anyone know anything about whats happening at Bradenton this weekend? Any reports from who's doing what?
