Nitto R-compound tires

Been trying to find out if Nitto's 555R-II tires (basically, the drag radial compound with stiffer sidewalls for roadrace/autox use) would be available in 18" sizes. Currently, I think they only have them available in one or two sizes for 17" rims.

Anyway, I couldn't find any further info on their web site, and also filled out a comment form a couple weeks ago but never heard anything back. Searched high and low all over the internet and couldn't find anything either. Today I came across a 1-800 # and called Nitto -- the person I talked to said that two more sizes for the R-II's will be available in April -- 285/35/18 and 305/35/18!

Kool how long do you think these tires would last on the track?

were i live it would be cool to buy a set and go cruzing the mountian roads.

No clue. I think the treadwear rating is 100, so they might last a bit longer than a Kumho or Hoosier.

wouldnt really know how long those last either but it would be lame IMO to buy a set of tires that would only last for just alittle while. i know that if i was racing on them it would be fine if i only got to use them one time cause the fun in racing well thats the fun racing. good luck with them if you buy them and let us know what you think. can twait to Autocross
