Nitrous question

I was wondering if you could run nitrous works kit that has the fogger nozzle on the L. My concern is with the fuel puddling in the intake. I am thinking about running a hundred horsepower shot. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

I run the Nitrous Works adjustable kit with the billet plate. Ive had no problems what-so-ever and have had a good time with it. They are very reliable kits. As far a puddling in the intake, its not as bad or probable as some people think. Do you know how much velocity is in those runners at 2500-3000rpm. If the fuel is dropping out of suspension, there is a major vaccume leak killing the air velocity. Get it and you'll have to peel the smile off your face! :D

I ran the adjustable kit on my previous lightning jetted at 150 four about two years and TWENTY something bottles and NEVER had the first problem. My ET drop from a 15.4 to 13.4 with no other mods.I think its a kick *** kit.

Thanks alot Guys! I feel better about a wet kit. A buddy of mine has the kit and will sell it to me for $250. It only goes to 100 horse. But it will still be fun!

Mines not a nitrous works kit but, it does have a fogger nozzle and I've had no problems with it. It does'nt hit near as hard as it should but, I think its because of my bad decision on the brand of kit I bought.

I also run a WET kit. It seemed like a Big Deal was made about PUDDLIN a while back on the board, so for peace of mind, I installed a TORNADO! No problems to speek of. D`S93 NLOC#603

I've seen the results of puddling in several dramatic ways (obliterated intakes, launched hoods, torched exhaust valves)... I'd spray dry on a dry intake, but that's just me.

BTW, Rod, it's not about velocity, it's about pressure differentials. There's actually pretty low pressure in the plenum, combined with a lot of directional changes for the airflow. That loss of pressure equals loss of supporting molecules...

Just remember that the whole concept of nitrous backfires wasn't just plucked out of thin air. They're real. Will one ever happen to you? Who knows. It's one of those "you pays your money and you takes your chances" things.

Thanks Jeff. I didnt mean it never happens, but its a remote occurence. If you have these kits installed properly and are in the proper tune, N2O backfires and puddling are not a main concern. I agree that something can always go wrong, though. Blown headgaskets would be a far more frequent event IMO.

It would be funny to video tape me on a nitrous pass. Im paying more attention to the engine noises than the direction of the truck!! :D Gotta listen for detonation.

I cannot agree more! Many people have been using these type of wet kits with no problems whatsoever, but I have witnessed it happen on a few occassions. I've seen mustang cowl hoods blown 20 feet in the air and GT-40 intakes mangled! It's one of those things where you think it can't/won't happen to you and then it does. I personally wouldn't run the throttle body plate injection wet kits. I personally am running the NOS 5115 dry kit @ 100 and it works flawlessly. It's simple to use, easy to maintain, and a blast for playing on the street/strip. The NOS 2116 GT-40 under intake plate wet kit is by-far the safest wet it out there aside from an all out drilled intake fogger setup. The plate gets sandwiched between the upper & lower intakes which leaves zero chance for fuel to puddle in the upper intake.

It's all about what you want to do. Like I said, plenty of guys are using these kits w/ no problems, but do you want to be that 1 person it happens to? Go with the NOS 2116 wet kit, but if that's too pricey, you can find a used NOS 5115 dry kit for about $300 in good shape.

Any direction you go with nitrous.....prepare to be hooked! It is like a drug, worse than any other highly addicting substance.
THROTTLE IN A BOTTLE!!!!!!!!!

The down side to the GT-40 plate setup and the Foggers are that there is no time/space for it to mix if your tune is too lean. They fire almost right into the intake valve. Also, the Big Shot plates have always had a problem with pressure drop off from the end ports to the center ones. Its from the distance the N2O flows through the small spray bars to the center ports. We all know lean is mean. So each of them have their problems. I have actually seen more cars have major problems with blowers instead of nitrous. Its whatever makes you happy. :D

What would be the biggest shot you guys would recommend with the stock fuel pump? I have heard 150 is about it, and if so what type system dry or wet. I was looking at a nitrous express wet kit, but am open to any ideas.

Thanks,
Joey

I ran the Nitrous Express wet kit jetted at 150 with a ALL STOCK fuel system.I do think that is kinda pushing it though. The only thing I did do is keep 103 octane VP Red in the front tank for when a did spray it and that was mainly so I could run a little more timing.
