nitrous and speed density...

Except for the mods below my truck is stock. A friend of a friend is trying to sell me a N20 kit. How much will I have to spend, how many components will I have to upgrade, to get the truck running properly with a nitrous setup?

Right on...

I'm not too familiar with the dry but for safetys sake I believe the wet is safer for a new nos user. If you cross up the jets it will just run real rich and you'll know it. On the dry, if the injectors or computer don't react to the spray the motor go boom. I believe the dry has some sort of FMU to control injector pressure but I am just bias towards the wet. On either you really need an ignition system (HI6 or MSD) and coil especially on a bigger shot. Also, a closer gap on the plugs along with colder set of plugs, non platinum.

Turn down the timing;)

Sorry,.........but I beg to differ! The dry kit (especially if it's a NOS brand) is MUCH safer than any wet system on the market!

Over the last 6 years, I ran a NOS 150 shot on my Mustang and NEVER had a detonation or back-fire at all. All in all, I'd say I ran over 4000lbs. of juice through my STOCK 302 with no adverse affects!

There is a few things that HAVE to be addressed though!

#1 - Get an adjustable Fuel Pres. Regulator
#2 - Get a MSD6, 6AL or Equivilant
#3 - Make sure you have a bigger fuel pump! I recomend an external type!
#4 - If you go with a 150 shot, go to at least 1 step colder plug
#5 - Make sure plug wires are top notch
#6 - Run the best Fuel Possible 93+ with about 9-10 deg. timing,.........114 with about 12-14 deg.
#7 - Don't get gready and think you can go above a 150 shot,...........you'll only be sorry in the end!

Use these items as a rule of thumb,......and you'll be fine!

WOOPS...

Here are the exact specs on the kit: Nitrous Works throttle plate, NOS cheater solenoids, 15# bottle w/warmer, can be jetted from 80-175 hp, and it's a wet kit-not dry!!

Claims he put the kit together:confused: .

He wants $450

I have a nitrous works wet kit in my L. with no problems no back-fire or detonation and I have the same mods as you expt for x-pipe. I have a 125shot of n2o and it has 131000miles and with the nitrous it went from a 15.50@89 to a best of 13.81@98
I say get it, set you timeing at 10* gap you plugs to 35 and have fun.

Oh and I been running this set up for the last 2 years

oh no...here we go

no offense man, but i dont think theres any way to substantiate that one kit is any "safer" than the other. each has its own ups and downs. if hes just looking for a cheap deal, then a dry shot may be right up his alley. but to proclaim either "safer" than the other is slightly ludicrous...IMHO of course ;)

*disclaimer* this coming from a former user of an NX wet kit :)
