Master of Pain,
The major differences between the 2001 and 2002 R1's are as following. First and most obvious are the apperence changes. The rear tail light is all LED and the farings and headlights are different. The motor is now fuel injected instead of carb. The motor I believe is the same and the computer is different because of the fuel injection. Oh yeah i believe that they change the frame to lighten and strengthen it up. Those are the changes that i know about.

Very cool. The silver is very cool! Any prior cycles?

From the picture, here's a tip. ALWAYS use one additional strap running from one side of the truck, wrapped around the front tire, and then to the other side. One of the main reasons bikes fall over in the back of people's trucks and trailers is because this one additional strap was missing, which would have prevented the front wheel from turning/sliding to the side, and then the bike falling over. All the front wheel has to do is to start sliding to one side, after a few bumps, and BAM, it's on it's side. I've seen it plenty, but I've never had one bike fall over during transport that I've tied down during my 10 years of owning and riding motorcycles.

Way ahead of you... I use a front tire mount for that particular purpose. I'll try and post some better pics when the temp rises. I ate my first corvette last weekend, this trucker halls a$$. The new fuel injection system allows for alot of tweaking.
