New Antenna?

Ladies and Gents,
I did the antenna chop last year on my 99L. Turned out great, but I was wondering if anyone else out here has swapped for an aftermarket antenna? I am looking to stay with black!! Most of the aftermarket ones that I have found are billeted Aluminum and are around $25. great Price!! Does anyone have any pics of aftermarket antennas on their L's?

I bought a white antenna from Shorty. I like it much better than the stock one. Here are a couple pictures: (Don't give me a hard time about the wheels -- they're my winter set )

does anyone out there have an electric antenna? hmmmm?

Does any one know how to get the black plastic base (close to the fender) of the antenna off? Is that a cap that "snaps" on, or do you need to loosen the entire assembly from inside the fender?

Bulldog - You are the only one I know of that has removed the entire antenna assembly; any hints??

the base cap just snaps on & off. pry it up with a screwdriver with a rag on the end

It's 12 inches and is gloss black. They are really a dull gloss, if there is such a thing. The match us is fine.
