New Addition to the Family

Whats going on... I just got my computer fixed after a month, so I haven't been able to check the forum in a while. Tuesday night I got Heidi a new little brother, Samson, he is a 8 wk old Pit Bull baby. I forgot what it was like raising a puppy, lets just say my sleep scedule is a mess, but it is worth it!

Oh man, he is so cute! I have always wanted one! Did you have to get any kind of permits or anything along those lines because he is a pit and there "supposed" bad background????

There are some cities that you can't have them in, but the Vet I took him to agrees that they are excellent dogs, just like Rottweilers, but both breeds have obtained bad reputations due to assholes that abuse them and make them mean. They are pretty protective though, both Rotts and Pits. Hell, I think more Cocker Spaniels bite people than anything else, it is only stupid and insecure dogs that are people aggressive. Pits are very smart, very loyal, very affectionate dogs. I am very surprised that Dalmations haven't been rated the worse breed to have, since they are proportionately much more people agressive than Pits or Rotts. Oh well. The sad thing is that this breed will probably become extinct in our life time, and they are one of the smartest, best around children, etc.

LOL. the two of them sitting on your couch looks like a couple of bad a@@es! and cute! Looks like the Rott is liking him pretty good. Good luck on the new father hood!!

it's funny you say that because my family had a cocker spaniel for a couple of years when i was in high school and the damn thing bit just about everyone who came in the house. we had to have him put to sleep. i'll never own another.-chris

I was at SM Park on Sunday with my Rott, and a bunch of people at the tower, and this guy pulls out three little puppies and I went to play with them, and this little one crawled in my lap. He wasn't planning on selling any of them, but I begged him to sell me the one I got, and on Tuesday he finally decided that he would part with him. So I doubt he would sell the other two, but if you look in the paper, there are a few litters advertised. Just be carefull and look at the parents, and check the puppy all over. I picked this one because he was laid back, not as agressive as the other two, but that might not be the one to pick out. I took him to the vet yesterday and he said I should take him back because he has a severe heart murmur, but there is no way I could take him back. I went to another vet for a second opinion and he said it could go away, so I am hoping for the best. If I were you, I would go to a breeder that has papers, and will garauntee the pups, and that has a healthy set of parents... on site if possible. Sometimes it is worth the extra money, but then again, you never know.

Great lookin' pooch! They look to make a great pair. I'm sorry to hear about the health problems--I sincerly hope they do go away!

I agree about the bad rap...there are only bad owners, not bad dogs; and any trainer will agree with that.

Our Rott just turned 13 weeks (28.4 lbs last Tuesday!) and she's already into her 3rd week of obedience classes. Damn smart dog--wish her owner could say the same <g>. I was gonna snap a picture and toss it up here, but she just came in from outside and looked like she did a cannonball into a mudhole (not out of the question), so no pictures tonight <g>.

Anyways, congrats on the PB! Awesome looking pair.

Puppies are fun tho...ours has become "mommas little helper" this week...helping her unload the dryer (although she hasn't got the folding part down yet <g>), and helping dry dishes with her tongue when we drop the door on the dishwasher after running it. And here I thought it was only my grandson that I needed to remind not to run with silverware <g>
