From what I've seen on this board and my own experience(very little) start at 1500rpm and launch about 10-15 feet and nail it, also stay out of the water that's the traction killer with these tires.....

I launched from between 11 and 1200 rpm. When I got to around 5400 RPM, I kinda eased up, then pressed back down on the go fast pedal a couple of times, then kept it to the floor through the shift. It felt stronger when I did that. (don't ask, I have no explanation  )
I didn't "roast" my tires, I just gave 'em a slow burn. 52 degree outside air temp, and I got two 13.7s, and one 13.3 out of my '02.
...oh, yeah. The first run was in drive with the "o/d" button on, and the second one was with it off. It made 2 hundreths of a sec difference - I say leave it to the comp to shift.
I hope you get as good, if not better times out of yours as I got out of mine.
:D

Like stated above, ya gotta 'baby' it off the line. Stay out of the water if at all possible, and just spin the tires over a couple of times in the burnout box. NO point in playing John Force with the burnout, although it is kinda fun;) . I usually launch around 1,000-1,200 rpm, get a little forward movement(about 5-10 feet I'm guessing?), then mash the livin' chit out of it! Just leave the shifter in Drive and turn OFF the overdrive. Try the launch at varied RPM's to find out how hard you can leave the line.

This technique got me a few 1.9X 60's and 13.7 ET's on my '99 when it was BONE stock. Hopefully the track will be in good shape! Read: STICKY!
