Need to know 2 things

I need to know if all Gen 1 trucks have 2 holes in the frame on the right side even with the rear wheel. One hole is about 1 in. the other is about 1/4 in.

And do they all have the 8.8 rear end.

Don't know about the hole in the frame. I believe the 8.8 with 4:10 gears is standard.

Do some searching on the rear end. It seems to me that the diff. is diff. (pun intended). I know that the center section looks completely different than the one (8.8) in my Capri. The Lightning's rear has heat sinks cast into it, but I don't think that is the only difference.

Chris: could you get some pics. of the diff cover?

I am making a track bar for my truck (not a lightning), and was wondering if it would also bolt up to a Lightning? If it will I may make a few extra and sell.

The Lightning rear had 11 changes that were specific to Lightnings only. M.J.

i had mine rebuilt. and tried to use a standard 8.8 (mustang) rebuild kit did not use a lot of the kit, we only used the cover gasket and some of the shim's. the kit needs to be for a truck 8.8 (lightining). the rest of the kit i could not use..
