One of the Lightning guys around here is running over 20psi and is gonna run a 175-200hp on NX wet shot........Although he remains to be unknown......there is a few from here that will speak for me about this trucks power........Just ask easterisland..........Can you say 10s?
Bulldog,
If you are running a stock pulley, on stock rods, all I would use is 125 shot of nos and feel safe. Yea, you could get away with a 150-175 a few times but the pressure on the rods is tremendous and you are asking for trouble. With a 2# pulley, I wouldn't run anything over 80 and with a 4# anything over 50. Anymore boost over that is almost not worth even using the NOS. If you really want to run this setup, I would definatly give manley a call for some rods and soon to come pistons. I would hate to see you on the list of people with blown engines.
hmmm...thank god i bought a bottle of jc whitneys "rods be strong", somehow after adding to your motor oil, it coats the rods in this special patented liquid and changes them into titanium, hope it works!
Lfs, thanks for the reply
Bulldog, based on our experiance, this is what I suggest to customers on this topic...
Stock boost to +2.... 100 shot max
+3 to +4....75 shot max
+5 to +6....50 shot max
These specs are for a stock bottom end. I do not suggest running over a 100 shot, even if stock. You'll get a few good passes out of that, but eventually the bottom end will give out. Also these hp rating are on a WET shot. I do not recommend dry systems on these trucks as they have proven problematic, and a wet system makes more power anyway.
I use a 2 lb lower with a 100 wet shot. It has worked great for me and I have changed the plugs 3 times after I went with nitrous and they have all looked great.
i have a 100shot of wet juice and 15lbs........ ......alli have to say is JUICE TO THAT!!!!!!.........i likes.........bottle empty cant purge!!!!!!!! DAMN
I'm running a 4lb lower, metco upper, and a 50shot of juice right now and I've drove it a couple times on the street with the 50shot and it was smooth. little extra kick, and it cools the blower down also.
