Met a mechanic from Riverside Ford yseterday at SDR. He came over to look at my L while I was waiting in the staging lanes.
We talked about mods--and then I asked him if R/F was 'mod-friendly'--expecting a "No", but I was wrong. He said they were lieniant in their policy towards modded Ls. No problem with 'external' mods. He mentioned they have even replaced PCMs that were damaged/burned by aftermarket chips. The worst offenders are the diesal-stroke trucks with chips. He's replaced 2 or 3 intercoolers(99-00Ls)--in 1.5 hours--easy, he said.
I had him write his name on my business card because he said you can specify a particular mechanic if you want to. I'll keep his name off the board but if you need it, just email me.
