REDNECK and I went to NAIAS today. I went for only a few reasons and that was to see the Marauder, SVT Focus, GT40, and the new Dodge truck. Thrilled with the first 3, bored by the last. The Marauder is definitely on my short list for next ride. I could get used to the idea of paying only 18k for that Focus, though. I sat in it was impressed! The fact that my wife thinks the Focus is "cute" doesn't hurt either.
But all the room and the ominous look of the Marauder, not to mention the comfort will win out. (29k) The Dodge truck was placed on a platform that made it hard for everyone to see, and the place was so packed that I got bored with trying to get a good look at it.
Of course the GT40 was everything I knew it would be, and it (with the help of the model) had me at attention and too embarrassed to move for a while.
Chrysler had the best show I've yet seen at an auto show. Acrobats, Mocko Jumbies, dancers and even life size balloons of vehicles (amazingly accurate reproductions) that floated above our heads with the aid of tiny propellor thrusters mounted strategically on the vehicles. A real Vegas-style show.
My hat's off to Chrysler for this one.
