Lower Pulley Install Questions

Hey Guys, I'm going to be hanging a fan kit and water pump in a week or two, and was wondering if I should just go ahead with a lower pulley while I'm at it. So, for those of you who have done the lower pulley, how much easier would it be to do with the fan shroud and everything out of the way?

I have the parts for the fan kit now, but if the pulley would be that much easier with the fan out of the way, I'll wait and just do it all in one fell swoop...

It won't make that much of a difference. The Pulley install is a piece of cake regardless of the fan being in or out at the time. You can wait if you like....but it's really not necessary.

I did my Lower Pulley swap in 45minutes total
Jacked up truck
Popped tranny insp. cover
Put on Lock Bracket
Pulled Belt Off
Removed the 1 bolt & 2 nuts that hold the pulley cage
got a 14mm hex socket, 1/2" breaker bar & half of my floor jack handle to break the pulley loose (turn it clockwise)
pretty simple when you do it all from below.
No cuts, knicks or any kind of blood :)

If you use a pulley with a cage(such as the one from JDM) it will be much easier to do while doing the fan/waterpump.
